Is this a fair price for a complete shop job on a pin

$350 to completely tear the top of the playfield off, clean and wax, replace all rubbers, rebuild flippers, replace a broken left drop target, replace burnt out bulbs, switches, polish the pinballs, etc. This includes all parts and labor done by Midwest Pinball out of Oak Park, Il.

What pinball?

But yeah, that is pretty run of the mill for a complete tear down of the top. Depending on the machine, that might even be a great price considering it includes parts.

It all depends on their hourly rate and the pinball in question.

Yesterday I stripped, waxed, rubbered, bulbed, tested all switches, fixed a bad switch, and put it all back together again on a Mata Hari in about an hour.

Last week I did the same thing for an Independence Day, and it took about 4 hours. Nothing like removing all the ramps on top (and the troughs below) and everything else, and cleaning them all (along with everything else) and putting it all back together again...

I have no idea what going rate is for this type of work but I would would simply view it like this. Do you want to dick around with it and what's your time worth - now look at that $350 ;)

It really depends on what you're getting. You could get the one hour special like Mod described or you could spend 10+ hours doing a "restoration". I'd probably spend more than an hour just cleaning the posts. Pretty hard to do that when you're charging by the hour.

If we don't know what you're getting it's going to be pretty hard to say if it's a fair price. In any case I would just do it myself. I can pretty much guarantee I wouldn't be satisfied with what someone else did. Especially working for a flat rate.

Yea that's a fair price if there is no serious work other then clean and reassemble. I would say that includes bulbs, rings and labor. Any other work should be extra.

I charge about $250 for a full topside teardown and shop job, but that includes parts as well (rubber rings, bulbs, switches, etc.). The last machine I did was a Phantom of the Opera and I only charged $110 because it was a piece of cake to handle.

Can anyone recommend someone near the Toledo, OH area who would do this (full shop) for a reasonable rate? I have a very sad Funhouse right now that I just never seem to have the time to work on.
