Is there anything more reliable than the MCR games?

I mean, WOW! MCRs are so ROCK SOLID! Is anything more reliable? I think not! Maybe a light switch, or a Honda, but that's about it. They just keep going and going, without any maintenance what so ever! I think if there were a nuclear holocaust, the only things to survive would be cockroaches, Keith Richards, and Spy Hunter. Nothing ever goes wrong. The power supplies are the best design EVER! They even have that cool battery mounted right to the board!

That's why I was SO surprised this weekend when I powered up all of my games and Tron came up with a bunch of garbage on the screen. I couldn't believe it--I'm in TOTAL SHOCK! An MCR with garbage on the screen, and me with a room full of guests. THAT's never happened before. Oh wait, that has happened before. Several times. Shit.

I was told by a very reliable source that one of the hardware designers for spy hunter tended to like his lunches in liquid form :) That may explain a LOT.

i feel your pain. my rootbeer tapper has been acting up. 1 day it works great and then next it's garbage. plus, my demo derby is down because of the same prob....except that 1 just shows garbage everytime.....lol.

Maybe the aforementioned hardware designer found out there'd be a non-alcoholic tapper iteration, got pissed and decided to get his revenge on teetotalers?

Yeah I have a guy pickin up a Tron on Wed to put in an arcade so it's been running for over a day now. Only had to swap out the fuckin video gen board three times before I found one that does not produce shit over the sprites!!

Anybody know if there is a common problem with the video gen boards as far as bad sockets or whatever causing this???

I don't know if it's common or not, but I had to swap mine. It was putting the wrong sprites out. My MCP cone was made of tank turrets.

I've had some do that, random garbage, and also grid patterns. I believe the video gen board runs the sprites that have motion like Tron, tanks, etc and the CPU board generates the backgrounds.

Yes Sparty I know, I will have to update it to 4 soon....
