It would be so awesome to be able to search in a X mile radius of you in the for sale section. Even it there was the ability to filter just by state it would make it so much better.

People (including me) have been asking for at a MINIMUM a sticky that says "Please include your location in the subject line of your post" and that's fallen on deaf ears. Good luck.

It keeps the playing field level the way it is now. You have to search manually, have a good eye, and be the first to respond just like everyone else.

That's why I programmed a custom craigslist monitor that sends me realtime messages whenever anything new is posted. It is configurable for any location(s) and any search terms. I can even respond from my phone. I usually get first crack at anything good.

If I were to list anything that I wasn't shipping I would put my location. Haven't had to yet. :D

Now that is hardly level :D Programming your own monitor. LOL I have played around with that idea since I am a programmer, but I don't because if I did I would fill my basement too quickly! :D

I just wanted a location search so I don't have to look at all the items that are for sale on the west coast. Really I haven't left NY state for anything yet.

Right, it is up to the individual to create his own advantages.
I agree about location though, and I think most of the considerate sellers list location in the title already.

It would be great if everyone just put in their post

State: __

In the blank would have the two letter state abbreviation. It is funny that abbreviation is such a long word!

Open the link and look at the seller's location before reading the whole post. I know not to look for games from DJdns or RLEVIN simply because they are too far away, whereas partygt and mylstar are close enough to drive to. Just get to know your local klovers so you get inside info on what will be for sale before it goes up for sale ;).

The Op isn;t asking about an RSS feed for CL, they are asking about a way to be notified of people selling items X amount miles within range. Not sure how useful it'd be but a person can never have enough technology available I suppose.

And as far as apps go - there's so many apps for phones and for your PC to pull data with.

I use craiglook.com from my PC to scan the country for an item I'm looking for. I use craigsnotification app on my Droid for local sales.

Thread resurrection!

I'd just like to be able to use the User's registered Location in the "Advanced Search" UI. Expecting people to do it themselves is just asking too much, IMHO.

Alternatively, could we have a "complete games only" subsection?

I know, whine, whine...

Do y'all want ice cream with that? :D

Seriously. Even if you could narrow your searches down to games closer to you, you'd still want to know how the market is doing outside of your local area. Especially since you wouldn't want to miss that 1 in a million chance that someone driving cross country might be able to grab that Holy Grail you've been searching for since you were in diapers. :D
