Is there a 2-player version of Konami's Sunset Riders?

I've been seeing posts for a 4-player sunset riders and a 2-player sunset riders.
Is there actually a 2-player only version?
I've seen an image of the supposed 2-player PCB and it still has the 3 and 4 player connetions on the board.
Whats the deal?
Can any clerify this for me.

I don't even think it is a hack. I think you could obtain legit 2 player roms for these back in the day, but I am not positive on that.

Not 100%, but 95% certain it was a licensed release from Konami. It was a chip swap to convert your PCB to a 2-player version. They were also released for Simpsons, not sure about Turtles or X-Men. I think it was due to operators wanting the game on location but without the hassle of removing the CP evey time you went through a door, so it was easier to drop the PCB into a smaller 2-player cab. I'm sure someone out there has more info than I do.

I don't know about sunset riders, but by the time Cowboys of Moo Mesa came out, you could select 2 player or 4 player via the menu. I know TMNT needs a rom change.

If there really was an official two player version, it could very well have originally been for Japanese candy cabs, as those were typically no more than two player setups. I'm not sure how popular beat em ups were in Japan, although Konami is a Japanese company so I would assume it saw a release there.
