Is the Markvision 2929D the best emulation 4: 3 CRT available and if not, what is?

Hello arcade and emulation fans. I have the opportunity to purchase a custom unit I built for a client about 4 years ago and I'm going to toss in the best CRT I can. The system is PC based with Launchbox and is set up for everything possible. I have a brand new in box Marvision 2929D and am going to use that. Is there anything out there 4:3 that's better? 640x480 in 60hz and flatscreen seems to be the best I can find. What's the 'best' 4:3 high res CRT ever?

Not really the kind of monitor question for this forum but I'll take a stab. I assume you are trying to improve the look of the front end since there's no real benefit of the games running higher resolution. I have connected my pc to a Trinitron tv using component and I think it could do at least 1024x768. That's a flatscreen crt too, but then de-casing and mounting becomes a different problem. You have a CGA capable monitor so ideally you would use that for most games and run them natively. Obviously have to sacrifice the pretty frontend but that's life. :)

Is there a good list of Hi Def 4:3 TV's somewhere? I tired to look for Trinitrons in the 27-29" range but couldn't find anything. I'm trying to emulate medium and high resolution arcade games with Mame primarily with everything else as a secondary consideration, front end included.

Don't know any lists. The one I have is a KV-27FS100. Just check your craigslist or whatever and watch for tvs with component input. Fairly common.

Ok yeah maybe not there. Somehow you managed to get the Makvision though.
They showed up for sale about a year ago online and I bought 3 when they were in stock. 2 went to buck hunters and I've been coveting the 3rd. Someone must have found a container of them in 2020. They were about $700 USD each plus shipping.

Is your emulator really switching resolutions between games? (And not just staying VGA the whole time?)

The mak is one of the most common choices around today that will digitally switch to your signal's resolution in CGA/EGA/VGA in 25". (And 27-29" if you can find one of those.)

But, to be honest, any CRT that you can buy right now is the "Best" one as they are getting much harder to find, even used.
