Is the CPS2 18-in-1 board the only one that makes use of Qsound?

Is it the only CPS2 board that isn't emulation-based? I'm looking for a CPS2 multi board that has Marvel vs Street Fighter. It looks like I'd have to get some generic emulation-based multi board to get said game. Just wanted to see if someone knew of a board I may have missed.

Well the cps2 18-in-1 is using real cps2 hardware, unlike every other solution that is simply emulation.

Lots of different games used Q-Sound.

Most Capcom Games from the CPS systems.
There are also Playstation games and Compact Discs that used Q-sound.

That 18-in-1 plugs directly into an A-board correct? It has the Q-Sound on it. Not sure if it works with it or not but Q-Sound is nothing more than amplified stereo. I've never bothered with trying to acquire the parts for it and just used the line off the Jamma. It's not that awesome.

Most of the 18-1 "boards" come with both the A&B boards (and the interface board).

"Q sound" is a parlor trick where they use math to create an illusion of 3D audio via two speakers. It mostly affects Ambiance.

Your mileage will vary depending on the source and setup.

That being said, The Capcom Q-Sound amp is in my opinion nothing more than just a regular two speaker audio amplifier (and a cheap one at that). All of the logic is done on the board, not the amp.

I'm with you, always thought it was a joke when people would say how nice it was.

So the sound would be just as good on a Gamebox 450-in-1 as it is on my original Marvel Super Heroes game? I'm using it in the typical Dynamo cabinet for fighting games (its name escapes me). I'm currently not using the two composite-looking cable inputs, just normal sound from the JAMMA harness. It sounds good to me.

Q-Sound sounds great for it's time... Go check out the CD mixes from the early 90's.

Why capcom put so much money into the technology, I will never know.
