Is taking a free non-working Golden Tee 2003 a good idea?

Hi,

Someone is stopping by next Tuesday with a Golden Tee 2003 machine. I do not know if this is a conversion at the moment. I am under no obligation to take it; if I don't want it, he is going to the dump with it. My question is, if this is an original cab, should I take it knowing it doesn't work?

The guy said that it stopped working after he moved it from one room to another. This sounds to me like it may be a hard drive issue.

I'm thinking that if I could say with some degree of certainty that it just needs a new logic and that it is an original cab, this would be a great score. If it turns out to be something else, I've got a big white elephant in my living room. Any thoughts?

Dave

it's free. if nothing else, grab the monitor, the control panel, the pcb, and the marquee before taking it to the dump yourself. Or just put the stripped cab on CL for free and let someone else come get it...

Take it, take it. With the number of those things coming off route you should have no problem replacing a PCB or hard drive. If nothing else you can get yourself a big monitor a trackball and a coin door off the thing and then take it to the dump yourself.

And if it has a working dollar-bill validator on it, that's worth some money, too...

If it is PCB or hard drive, I am fairly sure Lanky Kong has a working 05' in storage that he bought to mame.

Stopping working after moving usually means blown fuse or bad connection. I wouldn't expect the board or drive to fail if the machine wasn't turned on while moving.

FREE is always the best price. If it dosen't work who cares. There are numerous parts on it that can be reused, traded or sold. If your out nothing how can you loose, he's even delivering it.

Normally I wouldn't even have asked, it seems like such common sense. However, my space is at a premium at the moment. Watch the video of my arcade to see what I'm talking about.

I'm taking it for sure now. I guess it'll just go in the living room; I don't think my arcade door is wide enough for that beast.

Take it.. It might be something minor and you could end up making some money out of it if you dont want it later..

I'd take it without question. Its free and if you dont even want it, I'm sure someone will be willing to pay something for it. Most likely a simple fix. I'd fix it and throw it on Craigslist. With all the jackasses on Craigs trying to sell shit cabs for 3000 dollars, you could make a easy quick couple hundred bucks in no time unloading that thing.

If it's an original dedicated Fore cabinet, grab it. They are great cabinets and Golden Tee flat out rocks.

I would take that and I know that it would not be able to make it into my basement. I would put a '97 or '99 board in there, though I would probably have to disassemble the cabinet to get it into my gameroom.
