Just poking around a new game I acquired and noticed an unusual setting in the dip switch area.

heres another, this is for console though.... DJ Boy, the arcade and japanese's version first boss is a aunt jemima looking character, for the US genesis version she was colored white, looks really scary set up like that too :/

I've never seen Tapper with a black main character. Care to share some pics?

I think Domino Man is the only one with that setting. If you play Timber with 2 players though, player 1 is white and player 2 is black.

From skimming MAME drivers, Domino Man is the only one I see with a skin color dipswitch. Not really sure what compelled them to do that (other than maybe testing a new, predominantly dark-skinned market). Here's a comparison:

Bally Midway must have tried marketing the game specifically in black areas as playing dominoes is particularly popular in African-American communities.

...or in Latin America perhaps???

I noticed that the default high score on the Tron pinball machine was "JEW", with a score of 75,000,000 which is pretty damn hard to top!

Its a great idea. If your a black kid, do you always want to play a white guy in a video game?

As far as marketing goes, changing the game with the flip of a switch to pander to an your audience is a winner.

I wouldn't consider it racist.

Wow! I never knew all the characters are black. I need to turn thus option on!

Maybe this is the next big thing in rom hacking.

1) everyone wanted highscore saving hacks.
2) freeplay with attract mode.
3) ethnicity selection hacks?...

Punchout is still the greatest example of videogame racism ever. It hits just about every race.

Ditto, doesn't get any more politically incorrect than Punch-Out!! Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! may have been an even better example with it's larger cast.
