I'm pretty sure my Evel Knievel pin was originally an SS one, but am looking for help in finding clues to solve the mystery.

When I bought it, I only got the populated playfield- the head box was long gone. Someone cut right across the wires to separate the head from the body.

Is there any kind of "dead giveaway" to identify if this was originally an EM or SS version of the machine?

I'm getting the itch to get it up and running, and obviously this question is a crucial one :D

Are there diodes and or capacitors connected across the playfield switches? If so it's electronic.

Thanks Ken. I will have to open it up and take a peek under the playfield. My recent advances with my Sorcerer machine have made me want to dig into this thing and bring it back to life. We'll see how I do.

I also need a backglass for it and don't really have the cash right now so, I'm tinkering with the idea of cutting a piece of plexiglass and using spray adhesive to glue an image copy of the original backglass on it, just so I won't be staring at a plain light board when the time comes!

How else are you expected to work on them? ;)

Yes they all do.

Well on my Sorcerer, I've only lifted it up to like a 45 degree angle. I didn't know it was supposed to pivot all of the way over.

That's what I love about this hobby. I still keep learning new stuff!

Why do I have a feeling you guys are gonna suck me into making this my next project for sure? Current ones on the waiting list are:

1. Tempest
2. EK pin
3. Omega Race
4. Ms. Pac numero dos (just needs monitor chassis rebuilt)

And here we are... pics of the inside (I'm guessing this is SS, going off of the lack of "guts" in there, as well as the test button on the coin door).

Anyone up for testing the MPU that I have if I mail it to them to help get the ball rolling? [pun intended: I'll be here all week]
