There has been a lot of new people joining the KLOV site. This has been great for our community!

However, is it worth the risk to buy items off of people with little feedback or a reputation of past selling?

For me, I have seen some great items come up that I want to buy. But, with these new sellers, seems like a lot of trouble has been caused. So I have passed and am waiting.

Anyone else hold off on buying a part because of this?

It would seem that anyone trying to sell an item here on KLOV should already have some feedback on ebay. Most people have an ebay account and have sold things. If they don't have an ebay account with near 100% positive feedback I would be a little more leary buying something from them. Just my 2 cents.

I am not buying anything from anyone who joined this year.

Certainly any rule may have some wiggle room.

I've been on other forums that require a minimum if 50 posts before you are given acces to the but/sell/trade section

and since newbies that post in b/s/t tend to get flames reguardless, it seems like a good suggestion

caps are off for some of you. lol but anyway i agree with the above i joined this year and don't expect anyone to trust me you have to get to know me from my purchases and post. we are a family of gamers and collectors we don't need this to become a second ebay for dead beat sellers and buyers. is it true that new sellers have to ship item before payment.
that will earn some trust both ways.

This is something interesting.
What if they transfer the money to another account? Couldn't someone have an empty account? Where would the money come from then?

Nowhere. You get a message from paypal (paraphrase) stating that while they ruled in your favor there is no cash in the sellers paypal account so your SOL until they put money into that account.

That's what I was thinking. Squeezing blood out of a turnip just doesn't happen!

The thread is about new sellers, not as much the way you pay. Paypal is now a standard unfortunately. There are no loop holes.

Does everyone back away from a new seller, or throw money at them and hope it gets delivered?

I just go with my gut, usually you can get a feel for someone. Fortunately recently someones poor grammar and spelling left a bad taste in my mouth and kept me from wanting to deal with them.

I think or the most part I trust the community here. I have searched members names just to see their personality if I need a change in my "gut". I was a member on one board that was like 50% scammers. So I would always tread lightly there.

I also feel that it's pretty much understood that this is a community built on trust. " you can feel it in the air".... And that scamming won't work

I have had similar thoughts with the free stuff I give away. I have considered only offering it to members with 50+ posts or that have been registered for 6-11 months.

Would that be fair?

Like CEC DFW, I don`t have a paypal account & I`ve never sold anything on ebay. I have sold things here & on other groups & websites with no issues.

I dont buy very often, but I usually go by gut feeling when I do and its not something Im going to pick up in person. Paypal is getting so far in left field its almost a scammers playground now anyway. I was visiting with a friend a couple weeks ago, and he showed me a paypal chargeback claim on an arcade game he had sold thru eBay. Guy won the game, paid thru paypal, came and picked it up, then filed a claim the following week that he never recieved the item
