Is it worth restoring a particleboard Nintendo cabinet?

Now that offset molding is available, I am thinking about putting work into restoring my Popeye. It has several chunks of wood missing/broken around the edges and corners, but the issue I am having is that I have seen how flimsy these particleboard cabinets can be. Is there a way to make them stronger? Are they worth trying to bondo them?

I am in the same spot with my DK, I can't get over that it is particle board but the only thing that is damaged is the back edges. I got a set of the new offset tmolding and am going to start my restore soon.

I would say go for it, if you do it right no one will ever know and just be careful when moving it.

I would say it depends on the shape of the wood.
The one I picked up had so many chunks missing along both back edges and the particle crap was just flaking badly.
It just wasn't worth the trouble to me so....RIP

See I am thinking that is not that bad. To each his own, I guess it just depends what you are feeling. After seeing that swollen QBert thread, my outlook on what is salvageable has really changed.

I already have a plywood DK to restore and this one was just too much effort.
Besides the beat to shit back edges you could see the particle rising from underneath and that would be a night mare to sand back down and fix.
Almost like the wood swelled at one time.
I only bought it for the parts that were left on it.
It was for sale here in the FS section for quite a while before I decided to get it.
No one wanted it even though it was only $75 with a Sanyo monitor in it.

Ever since I went on the Nincab bender, I have a serious distaste for particleboard cabs...When they swell, I consider them done. I don't want to drag a funky old swollen turd into the crib - But if the OP's cab hasn't seen a lot of water, I say go for it.

I have a Ghosts N' Goblins cab that is badly water damaged on the bottom and the right front corner just folded when I unloaded it. I doubt that cabinet will ever come into the house.
