Is it the heat or just me? Dont feel like messing with my games.

Down here in south texas we've had day's on end of over 100 degree heat and I work most of my day outside,When i get home i dont feel like messing with/playing my games at all. Just wondering if anyone else goes thru these low's? The bad thing (actually a great thing) is my board is on its way back from pinballcauldron.com for my heavy metal meltdown pin and im not even excited about it. Just wondering if its just me?

I'm feeling the same thing. All I want to do at the end of the day is drink a few glasses of ice tea and crash!

I want to work on the games, but I just get lazy. I think it is the heat. I did a cap kit yesterday since I can do it inside.

I have been playing games on the MAME cab more since it is inside too.

I've been the same way in this heat... no desire to play anything other than Virtual On or the cocktails (AKA games where I can sit down), it's just been too hot. Thankfully it's been getting a little bit better lately and we got our AC fixed.

It's probably the heat. Hope for your sake it passes. As for me, I live in NY and after a long hot day at work, the basement is a nice cool place to relax and play. Good luck my friend, the excitment will come back. Or, maybe you just need to rotate out some of your games.

Yes. My garage has felt like a steamroom the past week and I've had no desire to do any work out there. The only arcade related thing I've done in the past week was recap my Ms. Pac-man monitor, but that machine is inside at the moment.

You're not alone. I went into the garage to work on my GORF machine. I just had enough time to plug in a new boardset before the heat really became unbearable. So I brought the game inside.

I was just ranting to my girlfriend that this heat is the reason why all I want to do is sit in my chair. I have the urge to work on my games and I go over to them and I just feel exhausted. Also my hands get sweaty and I don't like to touch anything.

Yep, it's the heat. I haven't wanted to mess with my games at all. When it's still 100 degrees at 9:00, it's just no fun.

This is complete bullshit. Where I'm at we've had 42 straight days of 100 degrees or more and 54 total. We've broken countless heat records for both high and low temperatures. It's pretty hard to want to do anything when even in the middle of the night it is 90 degrees. If you have a smartphone, just put in Chandler,TX. Right now it reads 93 at 11pm. Fan-fuckin'-tastic.

To make matters worse,it we haven't had any significant rain since.....last year.
East texas is slowly turning into the Gobi desert.

Yeah,I need to move.....

Rant over.

capped another chassis last night. I don't have room to bring a game inside, so now I need to think of another small piece I can bring in to work on.

I guess installing the marquee and CPO on Millipede will work. I just wish I had something more likely to not be screwed up during the install. :(

I've actually been going into my garage a lot more lately. I cleaned it up an organized everything which cleared up a lot of space making my ceiling fan more effective. I'm also pretty stoked since I picked up a portable A/C at lunch today! can't wait to get it set up! 12,000 BTU's of cooling.

I have to tell you, this thing has been on my wish list for a while. I'm glad I finally got one at a decent price and which (knock on wood) works great!

Before I installed a ceiling fan in my garage I wouldn't dare go in there in the Summer, it was like sticking your head in a pre-heated oven, you couldn't even breathe in that sucker it was worse than a sauna!

Sadly I've lacked the initiative to do anything with my games (including playing them) since about 2003. I got into this hobby in 1993, so I had 10 years of restoring games and stuff. BUT I still own all my games and still love owning them, and will probably never sell them!

heat

yeah, ive been trying to make myself play. the heat in south ga is brutal!!

You guys are not alone. Even though I have A/C in my workshop, I just can't bring myself to go out there to do ANYThING. Part of the issue is that I am completely WIPED OUT from work and can not get motivated to do anything when I get home. Another problem is that I have been strung along since February by a person who is supposed to come and purchase my entire billiards package. Until that stuff is out of the game room, I can not really move any more of my projects into the game room. It all compounds into me not getting anything new done regarding my arcade...

I live in League City and even though the guilt is there, I just cant bring myself to do anything with my games:( My garage is just to hot, or I got so hot during the day at work that im just to tired and spent.

i completely agree. it's been 95-100 here mostly every day and it's just too damn hot to be in the garage. i just got a wizard of wor which is a little bit of a project, and i need to put the finishing touches on my mario bros. but unless it's in the morning or late at night, when it's still cool, i don't want to be in there. not to mention the extreme heat affects all kinds of shit like paint drying time, bondo drying time, etc.

I feel for you guys down south, though I am jealous at the same time. I live in NE Ohio, so in about 3 or so months, I will be freezing my azz off for 3 to 4 months. So even though we have had a long streak of 90+ days with 90+ humidity, I can't complain; I'd rather sweat than freeze!

And as far as working on games in this heat, doesn't bother me. Got an Asteroids running today, two monitor chassi to cap and a gutting of a Space Panic cab that has trivia Wiz installed in it tomorrow.

we use one of those portable a/c's (we call'em penquin's) at my propertys, they cool a living room nicely. That is until i can get over ther and install a new condenser. I think youll be happy 'specialy with the ceiling fan should cool good.
