Is it "Safe" to change CPS2 boards often?

Like the title says, is it considered "safe" to change out your CPS2 B boards often? I searched around and found lots of "how to change" but nothing speaking to this subject.

If not, I'm heading for a big disappointment. I change them weekly... for years....No issues...... yet.... ;)

I collect CPS2 boards and in my opinion it is not safe to be constantly switching B boards. These aren't manufactured like a Super Nintendo that is designed to be able to insert and remove a cartridge hundreds or thousands of times. It's also a lot easier to be or break off the little pins on these boards. When I buy CPS2 boards I try to buy them with A boards included because the price ends up not being too far off from just the B boards on their own. I have all of my most played B boards attached to their own dedicated A board.

It would just come down to the number of times those 4 connectors can be removed and reconnected without bending the pins inside of them to the point that they no longer make contact. You might have to look up that connector's spec sheet and see if if mentions it or not.

If you're worried about it you could buy a whole ton of A boards and have one for each B board.

The initial design wasn't really for them to be swapped often, just every few months when a new game came out... but if the connectors will hold up it wouldn't matter.

Spot on. This.

Anyone besides poster #2 change them often with no issues?
