is it quick and easy to install a lv6100 unit?

The LV6100 is made by Mark Spaeth, otherwise known as HudsonArcade here on KLOV. He's just mentioned having some done, so you'd better contact him in a hurry if you want some. Unfortunately, Mark doesn't have anything for me to link to (that I know of) detailing it.

The LV2000 is made by Jeff Hendrix. you can read more about it here:

Here is some text from an old post or multiple posts from Mark on the LV6100.

These are made with fixed voltage regulators an all through-hole parts for better reliability.

$30 each or 4/$100.

It's a replacement for the low voltage power supply on the deflection board (+/-24V).

These voltages are also sent over to the HV cages to generate the high voltage, but if you're getting a good +/- 24-28V on your rails on the deflection board, and you're not getting any HV, then this won't help you.

I've got them on all of my monitors.

The common failure mechanism in the LV secition is the zeners or transistors blowing, and the rail voltages go too high, and can blow up other stuff on the board.

IC-based regulators can take a lot more abuse, and if they do die, they'll just stop output anything and the rail voltages just go away.

Attached is a picture he posted of one.

any preference here?

is the only basic diff in these two just the adjustable pots and LEDs? does the lv6100 by Mark have LEDs?

is there really even a use for the pots?

i repl a lv2000 twice before but sold machines so don't know how it all turned out after awhile.

Mark's has LEDs, through hole components so if needed a part can easily be replaced, and doesn't have the pots. His doesn't require the adjustment that the LV2000 does, and his is cheaper. Especially when you buy 4 of them. Hence why I am waiting for his. Currently I have LV2000s in my two other games, but I didn't know he made these when I bought those. I have several boards I need to rebuild, so that is why I am picking up four.

You should read Todd at TNT Amusements comment on the 6100 and LV2000 type boards since he has done a significant volume with these monitors.

My main thought is that I know what happens without these boards. Ever seen a burned R100? :D

I wasn't paying attention last night when doing assembly, and soldered diodes onto boards that didn't have resistors (ran out of resistors when assembling those), so now I'm out of both resistors and diodes and have a bunch of boards that are incomplete... =-P

Got about 20 complete LV's now... will test 'em tomorrow night, when I'm back at the right house...
