Don't know much about the Naomi system so wanted to see if you guys knew if or how it would be possible to set up a switcher with Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.

Capcom I/O is pure JAMMA feed for a NAOMI. shouldn't present any conflicts with a UMK3 that I know of. the only other thing is I can never remember if the 2-in-1 switchers have the same ground ghosting issue the 6-in-1s have where you need to put diodes inline on all the kick harness wires.

Gonna bump this one up for a minute now that I'm inside these cabs

So I decided to take it to the next level since it have limited space in the house and go multi fighter.
Going to do Umk3, M vs C2, KI2 then prob a Sf and Tekken at some later point.

I am using my dedicated Killer Instinct 2 cabinet because it's the nicest and only dedicated of the 2 I'm picking from.

My question is about the wiring. Since this seems more involved than my 6-1 beatemup cab because of the the Naomi system... do I put the whole Naomi rig in the cab or keep the KI wiring?

The 2-in-1 switchers from Mike'sArcade have none if the issues that the 6-in-1 does.

You will probably run into power issues. Naomi isn't powered from the JAMMA harness but from a dedicated power supply with JVS connectors, and that includes the I/O board. I'm not sure how having power on the JAMMA will interact with that, you might do damage.

Don't try to power it off the JAMMA. Even if it "works", the edge connector definitely won't take the current and things will get crispy.

1. As mentioned by mecha the Capcom I/O is normal JAMMA meaning it does indeed get power from the JAMMA harness, not a separate power supply. the Capcom I/O has a 5V to 3.3V converter and a power output port to power the NAOMI main board to make it plug and Play with CPS2 based JAMMA cabs (including the CPS2 kick harness) no external power supply required.

2. the power pins on the edge connector of the Sega JAMMA I/O boards can be used to power the Sega JAMMA I/O board, as long as you don't power up the board from both the pin header and the edge connector at the same time you'll be fine.

Capcom I/O would be better as that provides audio amplification as well (something the Sega I/O does not do)... however it limits you to Cart games as the JAMMA harness doesn't provide enough power for a Dimm board. You can of course also run the Capcom I/O off JAMMA power with the NAOMI main board powered separately by a JVS power supply.

The 2-in-1 runs power to both boards at the same time. There should be little issue running a NAOMI for one game. As mentioned, you will have to run a dedicated PS for the NAOMI and wire it to fire up when the rest of the system does, but it shouldn't be difficult.

One thing nobody has mentioned is that the Midway MK series boards have a slightly different video refresh rate than the Capcom stuff. You'll get frustrated as hell trying to find a vertical size monitor pot position that will work for both, and it will letterbox the Capcom/NAOMI while vertical stretching the MK.
