You respond to somebody's WTB post for an item. And it's an item that a fair KLOV price is $25 or less plus shipping. And the first thing they want is pics.

Well, is it just me or do these WTB posters always seem to be the ones who never follow through? Off the top of my head, I'll bet that 95% of people who ask me for pics of cheap items don't buy or even respond. The item is exactly what I said it was and always better than described.

And the 5% who do follow through end up being like the guy I just sold two cheap items to. I quoted him the total with shipping, he Paypaled me and sent me a PM saying he added some extra for my time. HE ADDED AN EXTRA $1....Yes, a freaking dollar! Then tells me in a PM that he also needs a speaker and a grill cover and I could just throw that and anything else that would fit in the box in there.........stuff that we never discussed, figured a price on, or even extra shipping costs on. Geezzz!

Unless it's a game or cabinet, anything above about $50 I rarely get asked for a pic, it's sold and shipped, and the buyer is very happy. And I'll bet that 99.9% of what I post for sale here or respond to in a WTB that's worth $50 or more in KLOV dollars gets sold without a pic....and everybody is happy.

I guess that the point is you're not making anything off what you're selling to begin with when it comes to cheap stuff. It's mainly a matter of just helping someone out basically. But you take the time to take and post pics and they generally end up being tire kickers wasting your time.

I post pictures of everything I sell. I also honestly describe everything too. I've been buying and selling on eBay, here, DigitPress, and CL for over 10 years and I have yet to receive negative feedback, been the subject of a drama thread, started a drama thread, or had someone file a paypal claim against me. For me pics are necessary for selling anything online. But I hate having to sell shit, because taking pictures is a pain in the ass. It comes with the territory though.

Look at it from the other side. The buyer buys your item sight unseen. It is received and at is not in the condition expected. Your idea of the condition is different than the buyer's . Buyer posts a "What should I do?" thread. Everyone says he should have asked for pics first. It is the only way a buyer can have an exact representation of condition.

If you're too bothered to be upfront and honest about what you're selling, and go to the trouble to start a thread saying that you don't want to be upfornt and honest, who the hell would want to buy from you?

I use to run a surplus electronics shop. I always had customer who wanted to grind you on a price. I use to send out my crew to other places to compare our prices with other stores. They would always come back and say the same thing. We sell cheaper than anyone else.

There will be someone who wants to grind you on your price even if you selling it below market. There will always be someone who want to get that better deal at your cost.

On the other hand. I have bought some rusty pieces and dented items that would make a 7 ish cab drop down to a 5. So I understand about wanting a picture even on a cheap item..

Who the hell said that I or anyone else wasn't being upfront or honest about anything.

Typical paragraph skimming idiot with something to say

I guess I don't understand the problem with taking pictures. Recent cell phones actually have pretty good cameras in them (I think mine is an 8MP camera, and it is 6 months old already), and they are easy to use. I take pics and they are automatically uploaded to my photobucket account. All I have to do is check the ones I want and it will auto generate the image code. Copy paste, and it is done.

You make a big deal about thinking you should not have to provide pictures.
What I'm saying is that it sounds like you have something to hide by not providing pictures. I think most buyers would think the same.

As for the guy who wanted free stuff from you after the fact, that's not cool.

Now have I addressed everything in your paragraph to your satisfaction?

And relax a little bit, there's no need to start slinging names.

Exactly. You want to assume everyone is honest and has high standards on grading but the reality is, that's not the case. Now, if I know the buyer and know what they mean when they say "nice CP" I might not ask for pictures, but I won't buy most things without pictures (especially art).

Really, I think it's crazy that people even try to sell without pictures. You loose quite a few buyers right off the bat that way. If I really want something I might ask, but in most cases I just let that post pass.

I never said that I have a problem providing pictures. Nowhere did anybody say that I or anyone else has a probelm providing pictures. You got that in your head the same way you got somebody was being dishonest in there....you made it up.

Now, the problem that I was addressing is that it seems that when you respond to someone's WTB post asking for an item, and it turns out to be one that you would sell cheap ($25 or less), they always ask you to take pics and send to them. And when you do 95% of the time they don't follow through. You are basically helping them out with a cheap part, that you are not making anything on, and they end up wasting your time.

I asked the original question and should have known some of the responses would come from people who would waste your time, but then again, why did I just retype what I originally said anyway. Some will read and some won't.

Well put. I would never buy anything online without seeing a pic first.

These two people posted before me. How come you're not yelling at them for answering your question incorrectly?

While I haven't done any WTB for cheap here on the KLOV, I've done it before on other sites and if its under 25, as long as its "working" I don't need pictures. I understand how it can be different for something that would be considered "show" quality, however if I did WTB for joystick, buttons, and micro-switches, as long as they were working that would be all I care about . . .

It certainly sounds like you at least have some issue with providing pictures.

I asked a question if it was just me?

If it's not you, you are welcome to say it's not.

But when you say that I'm going to the trouble to start a thread saying that I'm not being upfront and am being dishonest is another situation.

You called me dishonest and I responded accordingly.

I think I made it clear that it sounds like you're being dishonest by withholding pictures. I am not calling you dishonest. Sorry if you took it the wrong way.

No, I don't feel the same about WTB posters as you. When I have an item to sell, even if it's a $1 item, I'll provide pictures first without even being asked. If more pictures are requested, they will be taken and sent. The buyer will make his own decision whether he wants to buy it or not. I'm not going to get upset if he doesn't buy it because I don't know what exact condition he's willing to settle for, and even the smallest issue with my item might deter him from buying it.

Conversely, I, as well as most other buyers here, want to see pictures before buying any item to make sure it is in an acceptable condition. Pictures provide accountability, and no one can claim the item is not in the condition stated.

Didn't look that way to me but I'll accept the "Sorry if you took it the wrong way."

I think once you get to know a seller. Maybe a pic wouldn't be needed for certain purchases. A first time buyer tho I can't really blame for wanting a pic

I know it's slightly off-topic (and I don't have a pic to go with it) but I just think the KLOV discount is pretty much the coolest. I like dealing with folks that know I'm not someone just trying to make/take a buck and that what I'm buying/selling is going to someone who is giving it a good home.

To this point, I'd like to suggest a special codeword to use when we're selling/buying something out in the wild... because if it's a KLOV guy, I feel much better about knocking 25-50 bucks off because he's "one of the guys."

So some sort of "cue" word and a slow nod... yeah...

Or I could just ask the guy if he's on here. Skip the whole code word thing.

Whatever... move along, folks.
