Is it even worth the energy to part a game?

So I've got this Pit Fighter game which everyone knows is the worlds suckiest game ever. I've had it for sale for $100 and figured someone could use it for Mame or whatever. No bites really. So how much work is it to break the thing down and mail out all the parts really? Those who have done it, is it even worth the effort?

Like how much would a nice 25" monitor sell for on its own? What about an over/under coin door? They are nice...but shipping them would be expensive. Power supplies are a dime a dozen practically right? And of course it has some nice joysticks and buttons. What else is in there that might have any value to anyone?

Well first I'd start out with the monitor. What type? Standard Res, Dual Res, Tri-Res?
New 25" monitors, mostly Tri-Res are the only ones out there, range from $300-$450.
Any burn in?

The cabinet if it's in good condition (No water damage), given a 25" monitor size is actually a good start for a MAME cabinet, i'd say $50 to a $100, depending if you want to part out some of the buttons and joysticks along with it. It doesn't haven't to be near perfect for it's condition but you would want to base the price on that of course, because it would eliminate hassle from having to build something from scratch. People always love simple solutions and considering its a game cabinet no one really likes you wouldn't be destroying a treasure to convert to a MAME setup.

Honestly, you should track down the parts to convert it to a Rampart. same cabinet, and and 1000% better game.

i would do that. if you can convert it on the cheap to a better game, you can make more money off it... realistically, i don't think parting it would give you a ton of money. the monitor's probably the main thing you'd make money off of, and i don't know how much you'd get for that. monitor wise, i'd pay maybe $75 or a little more for a minimal/no burn working g07, so i don't know how much the 25" is assuming it's in good shape, maybe $100-125?

I double-dog dare you to try and part out the game in the for sale section. ;)

Hey I put it on the "last call" list so I'm allowed...soon. :) Rampart huh? I don't know anything about it...I'll check it out. It's fun? Do regular people look for it though? Or is it an obscure fun game that nobody hardly gives a flying fart about?

it should have a k7000 unless someone changed it..

I don't understand why you would not sell it as a mame box... pitfighter has negative value..

freaking monitors worth $75 and up depending on what it is.. coin door 20-30... power supply $10 if its a switcher....

its like my v fighter the parts are worth way more then the machine is. I just cant bring myself to kill perfectly working machines, but thats me personally. I can see why you are considering it.

Well on my CL ad I did offer to include the Mame setup at an additional cost if anyone is interested. I was planning to move that computer into the X-Men cab I got from Jess. But I'm not hung up on using the same box. I was going to completely reconfigure everything and that computer is getting old anyway.

But Mame games don't seem to sell for much either considering all the specialized hardware you need to put into them.

Really? Is a k7000 worth $75? This one is nice. No screen burn that I've noticed. Good picture. I listed the whole game at $100 on CL but so far I've only had one offer for $75 and at that I may just hoard the parts for a while.

heck, what about converting it to rampage world tour? it's also a horizontal game with 3 players and 3 buttons each player. it's pretty fun.

Convert it to a Rampart. It is a great three player game with a good learning curve for newbs. I have it on good authority that reproduction Rampart art is being developed right now...

Just be careful when you buy a board. Rampart came in the dedicated three person trackball configuration and as a conversion kit two player joystick configuration. The boards are very similar and while the two player is still fun, it doesn't compare to the three player.

Hum, let's think this through:

Rampart board - available for what, $150?
Rampart side-art - soon apparently
Rampart CPO ? Is it available?
3 track balls - that's doable
The cab is a bit rough, has a crack in the front. Will need restoration

Um...what's a nice Rampart sell for these days? And realistically I don't have the facilities to do all this since I don't have a garage. Perhaps someone here does???

If someone here commits to convert it to a Rampart I'll let you have it for half price. $50.

The three player board is way more common. It took me a long time to find the 2p board... And yes the 3p version is much better.

You could do like my Pit Fighter cab.;)
I have the rest of the art for the dual game but need to get motivated to resto the cab and apply it.
Them cabs have some big ass cp's.

Rampart is a great game, period. It was by far my favorite game in college because it has fun and had unique multi-player game play. It's all about 2 (or 3) people playing it at a time.

Do you know if CPO's are available anywhere?

If you're posting it to CL, you should be posting it as:

"PRICED TO SELL! You won't find many of these any more! I paid $3,000 for this 2 years ago, but I'll sacrifice it for $1,500 FIRM!!!. My loss is your gain!"

Then someone can come in and low ball offer you $150, and you'll be $50 ahead...

Problem solved :)
