The hobby / business seems to be growing again. Prices are generally higher this time this year than they have been the past three years. And things still seem to be selling well. I hope it's a sign that things are finally turning around!

I think you are seeing a local phenomenon, maybe?

This is the time of year sellers try to jack up prices to take advantage of buyers' tax return money. But up here (Seattle) I have seen a much smaller rise in prices than I remember from the two previous years. Also, I have picked up a few things off of Ebay with BIN for 1/2 to 1/4 the normal auction selling price.

Now, with all of that being said, I did sell a large number of rejuvenator adaptors over the last couple of weeks. More than I had sold in the previous nine months combined. But I attribute that to a buying frenzy due to rejuvenation, tube swaps, and monitor repair in general being discussed by so many new collectors.

Can't comment on the arcade sales but at my two restaurants we have seen big sales increases since October. This January we had a HUGE increase over last year. Things seem to be going in the right direction.

I think the econmy in general is turning around, but as far as game sales, I'd have to say that in the Houston area it is the suck. Even Ms Pacs at $700 stay on Craigslist forever. Any other games get no bites at all. Either everybody's game room, man cave and garage is full or everybody is waiting to see what way the economy goes.

I try to buy old cars when I can, just to flip them and make a few bucks. All less then $1000 on each one I buy. Usually january I buy up a few cars after the christmas credid card bills roll in, throw a few bucks at them and flip em for tax season. This year not so much. People must not be doing so bad. I haven't done any car business since the summer

Must be a local thing then. Although very part-time, I'm just about as busy as I'd ever want to be.

Things have definitely picked up for me a bit in MI. I used to only buy games, but have been selling several over the last year or so, and have already sold about 8 since the new year started. Could be the Christmas/tax money thing mentioned earlier in the thread, but most games have been sold to first time game buyers. Seems like arcades are making a resurgence. It feels good to sell games to people that have always wanted to own one. I remember when I bought my first one, and it was just a preview of coming attractions, but at the time was about the coolest thing I had ever bought.

Happ raised the prices for resellers 35% on buttons, joysticks & trackballs the first of the year so myself included had to raise our prices. So that is one reason you are seeing higher prices, its not so much we are busy happ is trying to push market prices higher
