Is Bosconian rare?

Bosconian is something I rock hard at CAX. I notice a lot of others really dig it, too. In 2010, they had a caberet Bosconian. That was a tight little unit.

Upright is the only way to go....You need that cool artwork on there!!! The one I was going to get the guy "wanted" 4 bills for.
Huh? With the exception of the side-art, the minis has the same artwork as the upright. The CT does not, admittedly.

Bosconian minis are rare. I've seen several converted Bosconians UR over the years and even converted one myself to Galaga (relax, it was already gutted and had very little Bosconian left).

As I said, this is my guy...been bringing to CAX every year since I picked it up a few years back. I'll be bringing it again this year, you bet. Still waiting for someone to beat my high score on it, though...I think it's around 250K or so... surely someone out there must be better than that ;)

Oddly enough, I don't think we've ever had a full Bosconian upright at the show. Anyone want to step up to the plate and bring one?

Bosconian is extremely underrated and ahead of its time. Gotta love the freedom of movement in game...nice to know others dig it... now I've got a score to aim for! I play the jammatized pcb w/hs save in my candy cabs. If I can get close to your score I'll drop ya a pm!

I picked up a cute, cabaret Bosconian that I bring to CAX each year...even put a brand new 13" monitor in it last year as it was becoming apparent that new monitors were going the way of the dinosaurs soon :) .

It's a totally underrated game, IMHO...very fun and quite challenging. And I love the rudimentary speech where the "announcer" slurs his speech and sounds a lot like Elmer Fudd ("Wed Alert! Wed Alert!") :D .

I'd say there not that common mostly because most were converted to the more profitable Galaga BITD...but their value isn't that high either as most folks don't remember the game that much because it wasn't around that long...

Jon

Thank you again for bringing that cabaret every year! I mentioned it back in 2008 in Retrogaming Times Monthly and you shot me an e-mail about it. Always the highlight of the show for me.

Bosconian should have been the first game I bought, back in 1996 or so. I found one at a second hand shop that kept blowing up it's power supply board. I think the guy wanted at least $250 it, and I wasn't really a collector yet, so I passed. It was in good shape, otherwise.

Not as rare as Rally X or Gaplus, the other midwaypacmanstyleorgalagastylecabinet bastard stepchilds. :)

Galaga is actually a Bosconian bastard stepchild cabinet. The few and far between white Galagas are factory converted Bosconians. I have only ever seen one Bosconian, fun game though.

Scott, my reference is to the CT version... Can't comment on a mini since I've never seen one...;)

Ahhh...but if it's not done on a real, dedicated boardset/machine, it doesn't count ;) .

I guess you'll have to come to the show! :)

argh, I am waiting on a board repair for mine. It's a great game, didn't get to play it long before it broke though. :/

Man, I would love a cabaret Bosconian!

I could also see myself jamming on one of these, which has Bosconian:

hah! its an original boardset just with a jamma adapter. My Bosco skills, once fully honed, will transfer just fine to the cabaret. Hopefully my projects will be complete in a
month or so then I can practice up before the show!
