Well, maybe rare is too excessive...but I haven't seen any around lately!
Are they staying in collector's hands?

I guess I should've bought that one 2 years ago when I had a chance:(

Bosco

I just picked one up cheap, nice cab too. Traded it to DJW for some asteroids parts. I also have a gutted Bosco cab I picked up in another buy. Not something you see to often.

Yes they are fairly uncommon, though some guy has been trying to sell a cocktail on ebay for the last several months for $900 + with no takers. I had a chance to buy an upright about a year ago for $550 but the guy was a d-bag and not real trustworthy so I told him to pound sand. My understanding is many or most were converted to Galaga BITD.

I just looked on ebay, there's several Rally X's, one Gaplus, of course tons of ms. pac pac galaga galaxians, but noooo Bosconian (uprights). So maybe you're onto something.

Upright is the only way to go....You need that cool artwork on there!!! The one I was going to get the guy "wanted" 4 bills for.

I played the death out of one during a summer vacation in my youth. Man those were good memories. It's got that nostalgia factor for me at least. Wouldn't mind picking one up if the price was right.

Same here. I used to play one at a Perry Drug store waaaaaaay back when.....

Jeebus...those went out probably when Venture and McDade's went out. :D

I think they folded around 91 or 92ish..... Ah yes McDades!!!! That's awesome you remember that store!!!! My parents used to shop at the one in Carol Stream every weekend....

Yep, used to love that store. That's where I would always drool over the "Generation 1" Transformers...when they actually had metal pieces. They were also one of the only stores to still carry lava lamps when they were not popular any more.

I picked up a cute, cabaret Bosconian that I bring to CAX each year...even put a brand new 13" monitor in it last year as it was becoming apparent that new monitors were going the way of the dinosaurs soon :) .

It's a totally underrated game, IMHO...very fun and quite challenging. And I love the rudimentary speech where the "announcer" slurs his speech and sounds a lot like Elmer Fudd ("Wed Alert! Wed Alert!") :D .

I'd say there not that common mostly because most were converted to the more profitable Galaga BITD...but their value isn't that high either as most folks don't remember the game that much because it wasn't around that long...

And strangely enough, even though it wasn't that popular, Bosconian seems to just about always appear on every Namco TV games iteration they release.

I have been searching for a year and finally found one....5 1/2 hours away but it will be mine Sunday. I plan on having it in the arcade for the,"Central Virginia Arcade Get Together" that is planed for Feb.19.........

I just sold a really nice cocktail for 350. I had it on here for awhile, but had not bites. That was the first one I have had or had a chance to buy over the last few years. Just did not have room for another cocktail.

I don't remember EVER seeing a Bosconian for sale around here in all the years I've been farting around with these things.

I know a guy that has a Bosconian that was converted to a Mr. Driller. I know it was a Bosconian because it still has the Bosconian side art in place, which I thought was weird. I also know of a guy locally that is selling an "ultra-rare white Galaga" that is also a converted Bosconian.

I think a lot of them got converted because they didn't draw very well.

I haven't seen a Bosconian that was still a Bosconian yet.

I never played it either, so I have no idea how good or bad it is.

There was a practically mint one for sale around here a year or two ago. It took a long time to sell and the seller only wanted maybe $200 for it. So there wasn't much of a market for it.

I played it in the arcades in the glory days. It's been a long time but as I recall a quarter or token could last a while.

It's always interesting to see these more obscure games receiving interest again.

i wish i could get my hands on a nice Bosconian upright. i've got a converted cabinet (no salvageable art) here along with most of the parts to put it back together once i've got it stripped down and repainted. but unfortunately nobody's repo'ing the cabinet art so i'll have to live with bare sides and kick. at least i have the CP, marquee and bezel all ready to go.

it's a pretty darn cool game and i hope to have this done before the Seattle show in June since we haven't had one there yet.
