I've never been in a BOOMERS, but saw just recently that there's one not far from my home. There is a CEC about the same distance, and of course I know what that is.

Is BOOMERS just a ghetto CEC? Or have I just missed the ads for it?

The Family Fun Center that I grew up with playing games was converted to a Boomers a number of years ago. I've not been in for the fear of losing my memory of how awesome the place once was...

I'd say it depends on the area. I was in a Boomer's in South Orange County and it was really nice. Nice selection of games and well maintained. The Boomer's near where I live, however is a sad sight to see. All of the games have grafitti, broken parts or are non-working. The place is in a sad state of disrepair and I'm amazed it's still in business. I haven't been there in several months, but drive by it almost everyday. I guess, since they are individually owned and operated it largely has to do with the owner, but I'm sure the area it's located plays a big part as well.

I've been to a couple boomers over the years. Tkey are ok. They usually have a game room, mini golf, go carts ect. That type of place. A little different than CEC. Boomers has food but I wouldn't call it a restaurant. The entertainment are the games, golf and whatever else. No animitronic characters or shows of that type. I would think how fun it would be would depend on the games in their game room. The last time I went to a boomers the games were pretty weak. I've also been to a different boomers a couple years back though that wasn't bad.

Whoever operates the one in Livermore, CA definitely is catering to the demographics for top dollar. It's strictly business. It's disappointing because I live about 5 mins away.

Game selection from what I remember stopping by a couple of weeks ago:

- DDR
- Guitar Hero
- Multiple drivers
- Multiple shooters
- Ultracade in a beatup showcase cab
- Star Wars Trilogy sitdown
- Redemption and skee ball.
- 0 classics. Not even the horrible Ms. Pac/Galaga cab
- 0 pins.

They are no longer coin operated either. They have cards that you load up credits on. So I guess they are "card-op" games.

Very sad. :(

The Boomers here is basically a huge "jungle gym" kinda thing that the kids climb and play on. The second floor has arcades but mostly redemption games. They had a Galaga/Ms Pac reunion and a Simpsons party Pinball for the "parents". The galaga had sound so loud I couldn't stand playing it. Played about 45 mins on 1 credit on the pinball.
All token operated...Very clean but not the best place to find classic games.

My son and nephew have been to the one in Avondale, and they love it. I went in one time for like 2 seconds right when it opened, and really don't remember it, other than the place is huge.

Wasn't it called something else before it was Boomers? I seem to think so. Talking about the Avondale one..

i know they have lasertag, but what else? i am only about 35 mins from there.. maybe i will take the kids soon.
and I agree vintage.. if we are that close, we will have to meet up some time.
i'm only abt 20-30 min from there. I meet my cousins at the perkins there all the time.
