Is barb wire a good game? should i trade my WCS94 for it?

hi all i have a chance to trade my world cup soccer 94 for a barb wire. Ive never played it and wondered if its a good game and a good trade? i love WCS94 but hate soccer and a movie themed pin in a better fit for me. what do you guys think. condition wise i feel both machines are on the same page so ones not better than the other...what do you think?

I thought WCS was regarded as a really great game despite what a lot of people consider a weak theme. I'm not a soccer fan, but still think it holds up better as a theme than Barb Wire.

I don't think you'd have any trouble selling WCS.

I wouldn't trade your WCS94 for it. If you are looking for something new, I'd look for a game like Johnny Mnemonic, Judge Dredd, Demolition Man, The Getaway, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Jurassic Park, etc. All machines should be plus/minus $500 of your machine. If you were closer, I'd probably look to trade you my Johnny Mnemonic. Both machines that suffer from poor themes, but actually offer very fun gameplay.

those titles are EXACTLY what im looking for. i want a movie themed pin. ive seen the gameplay on the JM and actually like that....and kinda liked the movie so for me that would be a good trade. to bad your so far away :(

Its a awesome game and has so much going on. problem 1 my girlfriends (who now lives with me) ex husband is a huge soccer fan so as much as she loves my pins and games the soccer theme i know bothers her....and since i have no real attachments to this game im willing to trade it out and make me and her happy. ive had it for sale/trade for a while now and no real takers. i was asking $1500 for a outright sale so i had enough to replace iot with a similar pin...i know i wont get a TZ or a AF for $1500 but will get a mid 90's game with a theme id rather have.

I'd pass on the Barb Wire and hold out for a different title. Anyone from the Midwest planning an driving down to Florida? The OP and myself can sponsor your trip :)

I would pass, but this is just my opinoin. Everyone has a liking to a certain title. I know Gottlieb did not get a lot of love. They do have some great titles and one is Stargate.

Pass on that trade. You will be disappointed with the quality and longevity of the Gottlieb. It's worth no more than half of what you are asking for on your WCS.

Interesting.... I agree w/ you on the first part. Some of their plastics are cheap - really noticeable on ramps. Can't agree w/ you on the second though. Stargate holds it's own against some of the Williams of that era. I'll even say it trumps half of them...

I noticed you have Big Hurt on your owner's list - great game and highly underrated!

@ Op - Not a fan of either of those titles honestly. Played both of them. As much as I love my Gottliebs (more of a System 80A and B fan), Barbwire was a dud. Redundant shots, layout and audio sucked. and for me, I hate the movie! Now throw all this out the window if you love the movie....

Overall playfields are poor quality wood and poor quality (lack of any decent) clear coating.
Stargate is pretty much the exception of the System 3s (I think) when it comes to longevity. Regardless... I agree Barb Wire is a dud.

As far as Big Hurt, yeah... its a crowd pleaser. Its very flashy and has a ton of easy/medium shots. Baseball is a good theme for a pinball machine in general and I think that's why it works pretty well here.

WCS is really a great game. I have played many games on a friends BarbWire and it is actually pretty fun as well, Gottlieb sys3 are very underrated, and if many of these games said williams or bally on them, people would likely feel differently and values adjusted as well, great bang for your buck pins, and they are by far them most reliable pinball system that I have ever worked on.

That being said, WCS is superior in gameplay and features and has more replay value and better modes.. I would pass, but if I found a cheap Barb Wire Id bring it home..

Good move on the no trade WCS is a great game and worth a lot more that BW the Gottlieb System 3's are pretty well built dependable games but the gameplay on most of them is below the Bally/Williams games of the same era.
