Is anyone familiar with Crazy Mazey?

Interesting. Looks like Thief meets Rally X.

Also Armored Car (sans scrolling) comes to mind.

Has anyone ever played the arcade game or even encountered a cabinet ? I'm guessing it's very rare (or lost now) having been done by a tiny no-name company. Wasn't Eagle Conversions associated with Epos ?

The Rotheblog post would indicate it is based upon the Apple II game but the marquee description suggests what sounds like another Pac-Man ripoff but with a frog in a pond maze. I guess it couldn't be worse than Piranha or Abscam (both by "GL" whoever the heck that was).

Random bump for this thread, with a minor update, as another marquee just popped up on ebay. From seller msiporin, in Southfield, Michigan. Buy it now for $150. Here's the link:

Just updating here for historical purposes, as there only appear to be a handful of these marquees around, and no boards or conversion kits having surfaced yet.

I'm also attaching the pics from the auction here, just for archiving purposes.

The most accurate and useful info to date is found in the Rotheblog links posted earlier in this thread. It was basically a mess of related companies, Omni/Glak/Eagle/Magic Electronics. It most likely was a Pac conversion kit, but none have surfaced so far, so that's just my speculation.

I'd be surprised if marquees were made. but no hardware. Stranger things have happened though, I suppose. I've often wondered that if it was a Pac kit, it would probably be very easy to go unrecognized by collectors, as you'd need to dump the ROMs and then somehow determine what game it was (as it's not in ROMIDENT). So it's possible there are (or were) kits out there in boxes somewhere, and people just don't know what they are.

This is why I don't assume or toss any ROMs I get in boxes from raids and cleanouts. I dump them, ROMIDENT them, and physically look at the hex to see if there is any indication of what they are from. That's the only way we would discover something semi-extinct like this, unless the ROMs are physically labeled.

I was naively hopeful that some of my Glak posts might result in someone involved in that company, or who had dealings with one of the companies to reach out - in particular Kevin McIntyre (sp?).

But alas, that has not yet happened...

That's one of the things that gets me so often with a lot of these obscure arcade history and lore topics. A majority of the people involved are still alive.

There are so many people I'd love to talk to, from obscure PCB designers, to artwork artists, to guys on the business end, to the random lady that made Ms Pac wiring harnesses at the Bally factory. There are so many stories that would be great to document while these people are still walking the earth, if you can find them and get them to talk.

Collectors 100+ years from now will cringe at some of the opportunities we have today.

Andrew, I agree completely. Wasn't it you who tracked down the Centuri exec. for the Coin Rejects to settle the debate on correct pronunciation?

That's one thing I have been digging on some of the facebook groups (the Williams Defender players group in particular). A variety of folks are coming out of the woodwork and filling in the gaps. More more!

Yep, that was me. I've been thinking of pinging him again to ask if he knows anything about (or could provide any leads) regarding that prototype-looking Gyruss that popped up recently.

ROFL!!!! can someone PUH-LEEZ contact the exec's at TAITO and tell the rest of the arcade
world out here how to properly pronounce their damn company name...

Pick your poison:

1. TAH - EE - TOE or TAH - EE - DOE?

2. TIE - TOE or TIE - DOE?

3. TAY - TOE or TAY - DOH?

4. other?

That was settled a while ago. I believe it was on one of their ads. It's tie-toe.

Plus, it's pronounced on the splash screens of 90's games as tie-toe.

Now, back to Crazy Mazey.

I used to date a girl named Crazy Mazey. That bitch was crazy!

:D

P.S. I also used to date a girl named Karma. She was a bitch!

:D
