I know I am.

Despite being a big Tron fan (love the movie and the machine had always been my #1 grail), I find myself to be quite sick of everything Tron-related now. There's just been SO MUCH going on about it, that it seems to have really worn out its welcome. Hell, I'm not even that excited about the new flick anymore.

Excessive hype is hardly ever a good thing.

get ready, this is just the beginning! most of the merchandise isn't even out yet.
knowing disney they will probably market the shit out of it. Oh, and it does not bother me in the least, i have been waiting for Tron stuff for over 25 years now.

Here's the thing -- I think it's the arcade collecting community that's far more aware of this (and over-saturated by it) than the general public. These forums are filled with viral marketing campaign links, etc. that most people don't even know exist.

I was out with a group of people last week, and only one of them was aware that a new Tron movie was coming out in December. They all learned of it when my friend asked me (knowing my arcade game hobby), "So, do you think that new Tron movie will be any good?" Nobody else was even aware that it was coming out. These are people in their late 30s to 50s: people who used to go to arcades.

I guess what I'm saying is, you may just be a little too sensitive to the subject. :)

I imagine that the advertising budget of the new Tron is somewhere in the $100 million range. It's just a guess, but given the advance trailers, lobby displays and other advertising, there is a lot of money riding on this movie.

The movie opens in a little over four months...

Oh, absolutely. And all the chatter from the community has been enough to "harsh my buzz", so to speak.

When the advertising shit-storm really ramps up in the popular avenues of marketing, it's gonna be some serious overkill for those of us who have been going on about all things Tron so heavily for the past few months. (Well, not ALL of us obviously.) ;)

I have been following the Flynn Lives viral campaign since February and to be honest, can't get enough of it. I have been able to score some very cool SWAG (Flynn Live T-shirts, Flynn's Arcade tokens & various pins and post cards) and have an inside track for tix to the opening night of the new movie. (I fixed some console games for the manager of our local IMAX). So I say "Bring it on!".

Oh yeah, and I finally score my own TRON arcade cab a few weeks ago.

Are they building a tron ride at the Disney Parks ? It seems like that will be their next move .

it has been rumored, but dont hold your breath, Disney will probably wait to see how sucessfull the movie becomes. If they do anything tron related it will be flynn's arcade :)

There have been a lot of rumors about this:

Back in 1982, Disneyland did have the superspeed tunnels of Tron on the people mover, and they did have 15 Tron video games lined up in the Starcade. The Trons had an extra monitor on top so people could watch the gameplay.

It was short lived because Tron the movie was a flop.

Speaking of this, I was at Disneyland about a month ago and they have been re-running Captain Eo, in memory of Michael Jackson. I had never seen it before. What a lame attraction...

interesting on the endofline club at disneyland. when i went to flynn's in san diego a couple of weeks ago, they were packing up the arcade. i asked them if they are re-locating, they told me yes, and that they could only tell me that it was in orange county. so.... i think the rumor could be reality for disneyland :)

I just got my sweet-@$$ Tron in July... Nope, not Tron'd out :)

You've got some nerve creating a thread like this!!!

Yeah I have had enough Tron for now, wasn't a big fan of the movie and maybe even less of a fan of the game, the new movie looks like it could be a winner but I won't be camping out to be first in line.......

I like the movie. I'd like to have a tron cab. I like the cab more than the game. I'm surprised no one has done a combo TRON/DOT game since the controls are similar.

You're spot on, brother.

1st, I never saw the first movie. I need to go rent it or something.
2nd, Disney has a track record of doing things the right way. The movie may piss off some hard core fans, but they're definately going to make it profitable, and market it well. You can bet on that.
3rd, Even with all the stuff Disney has done, most people haven't seen anything. You're probably going to see about 10X as much promo when the machine gets rolling in a few months.
