I just peeled the vinyl off a cab I had and looking for replacement vinyl.

found a guy selling avery a6 vinyl rolls. he said its 2 mil thick and has the adhesive backing. would this be what I need to recover the sides or is there a better option?

just found that after making this post. The 2mil is however insanely cheaper. he has a 150' x 36" roll for $50. I guess its useless though if it doesnt do the job.

I see black and white is $2.50 per foot, then the other colors say $45 and dont mention if thats per foot or what. Anyone know?

I know money is money, but don't go cheap on vinyl. You might think you're getting a good deal and either a) the adhesive sucks, or b) it's so thin that every speck on the wood shows through and it looks worse than it could.

Black and white is $2.50 per foot.
The Red, Blue and Orange are $45 for a set. (completes a Nintendo cab, both sides and front) which is approximately 15 feet.

2mil is definatly too thin the stuff I sell on TOG is 3.5mil
Ive done several cabs and prep is the key and have only required 1 layer
alot of time and prep needs to go into before applying
Atari Clear coated the wood thick and smooth before appliying.
I just finished posting a couple of blogs on vinyling a cab over at COSP

Nice! I like the idea using the heat gun to wrap the vinyl around the edges..

How about a "HOW TO" using the wet method as I need to install some Spy Hunter full side art and it needs to be PERFECTLY aligned...and the only way I can think of doing that is the wet method.

Also, I did some bondo work on the sides... I didn't have any white pain to cover it up but I had some yellow... will the yellow show through the white vinyl (3mm)? I figured the yellow was pretty light and close to the yellowish color of the wood on the spy hunter... thoughts?

peel back a small corner of your spy hunter Im asumming you got that from Jason?
it should have a grey backing on it that should block out that discolor.

you could either go wet and or tape and hindge it off the back side

my test blog tutorial is wet side art applications

What would you recommend? There appears to be VERY little room for error... I've done dry before, but rarely has it come out ABSOLUTELY perfectly aligned...and even 1/16" will jack up this application.

Never used the wet method on mine. Always taped and measured twice! :D

But be careful....it could end up like this -

Ive been looking for that pic :D
yeah because of that border it makes it pretty tuff
and would recomend the wet and starting at the top corner rather than the bottom up
since theres less to worry about aligning own there

Id first cut off some of that excess at the top to the angle leaving a few inches of whiote from the black border peel about 1/4 down wet both the vinyl and the cab
and get that sucka in place and squeegee down

Solution: 1/2 water 1/2 isphol alcohol and a squirt of hand soap

when removing the premask:spray surface thourghly with water
squeege again will be easier to tell if you have any bubbles and make the premask easier to remove
