Is $212-$235 shipped too much to pay for a Galaga '88 board?

I really want this board, but I am starting to think that is too much $$ for that board. Should I just save my money for the whole machine?

I'd pay that. Worst-case scenario: you'll have a spare board when you find your machine.

$200+ shipping cost was the standard for several years on a galaga 88

I saw past threads about Galaga '88 vs. Galaga plus - same PCB?

I think that is a good price if the board was thoroughly gone over and has been burned in and tested - shipping from Europe is more. Surprised that you could not find one domestically.

My feeling is that you can always wait for a better deal that will eventually come along but in the meantime you are not playing the game and tomorrow is not promised for you to still be here. Never second guess yourself once you decide to pull the trigger on a deal. If you average out all of your deals, some were great, some not so great but overall you do OK.

Having a spare board is never a bad idea.

The same thing happened with my Gaplus, I bought the board, then got a full machine about a month later. :D Which is fine because it looks like I may sell the extra board for slightly more than I paid for it.

The question is: is it worth it to you?

I sold the whole damn machine (in perfect working order) for $300, and made a $200 profit on it, so I definitely don't think it is worth it.

The other side of it is availability. How long are you willing to wait to find another one available?

If you want it that bad then it is definitely worth it.

Geez, for that much you could almost get a new computer and just load the ROMs on it and emulate the thing...

I kid of course. Pull the trigger!

I have been looking for a board for quite a while now, and the only thing I have seen was SRW's whole machine.

The thing is that I really don't care Atari's Galaga '88 cabinet. I want just a board so I can put it in a midway cabinet and use the japanese flyer art on the sides.

Hey, wait a second. I JUST paid a guy in Italy almost EXACTLY $212 or so, once the conversion from EUROS is taken into account. The crazy thing is, less than 24 hours after i sent the payment, i received a message from OUT OF THE BLUE from another person asking if I was still interested in purchasing a Galaga '88 board. Nothing had been posted publicly about my purchase of the one from Italy, so it just so happens that this other person was looking through old posts and "cold called" me with one he had available. I am wondering if you are inquiring about purchasing one from the same person???
