is 1/8w too small for drive and cutoff pot replacements?

I'm replacing some missing pots on Wells Gardner neck boards (both k7000 and k4600.)

The ones I'm finding in the same footprint are often only 1/8w, and some even less than that.

Is this enough power handling capability? Or should I just up to 1/4 watt parts - which in many cases bumps the size up to 15mm, larger than the originals.

Is this a dumb question? I feel like it might be, I just don't want to burn them out and have to replace them again later. Any knowledge on the subject would be most appreciated.

the requirements can vary depending on where the pot on any given board is at but i sell all the k7000 pots and many other pots and about 99% of my pots are 1/4 -1/2 watt so i wouldn't use the 1/8watt i would go to at least the 1/4 watt. the size doesn't change much on pots just due to wattage its usually more affected by the pcb layout of the leads. i match up that so the legs don't look like pretzels by the time you get them installed.

Thanks for the advice Security. I think that's wise. Especially since the resistors nearest the pots are specified in the manual at 1/4w.

I have a smashed up K7000 board. The neck did not break, but the PCB did. So now I'm rebuilding it bit-by-bit on perfboard. It sounds insane I know, but after a few hours of dicking around, it's mostly built. Just waiting on the pots to arrive!

no problem. if you need any in the future i added almost 20 today and will have almost 60 different ones by the end of the year and they fit where they go without bending the legs into a pretzel like alot of them out there...
