I just thought it was funny. It's based on 8 ratings. Probably time to tweak some settings somewhere.

Could be a great game, though. Who am I to say? I've never played it. :p

I had a similar experience except it was Big Bang Bar. I would imagine that lasted less than 5 minutes.
IPDB has turned into nothing short of a pin price wars debacle.

My favorite was when Capcom's Kingpin was #1.

Must've shown up at a show or something and then everyone raced over to rate it.

We had an Andromeda at the Seattle show this past weekend and it played pretty well. I think it was one of the few machines that was busy all weekend...

I posted this first for the record but am lazy and didnt post a pic.. Your thread wins, mine fails. :)

I couldn't give a rats ass what pins are "A list" or ranked high on IPDB, or ones that crackpot pinheads think are worth $15k...I'll buy all the "crappy pins" then...

This whole "A list" bullshit is based on nothing but price. I've played some pricey DMDs that I thought were absolute garbage...but they're "A list" pins. GnR for example? I wouldn't pay $800 for it...well I would, but I'd flip it in an instant. One of my fav bands, but the pin sucks ass.

My fault for not checking better. I would've added the pic to your thread.

If anything, it will give Andromeda a little attention for a little while. Never played a pin with a pop bumper basically in place of one slingshot. And it doesn't look like there's a left outlane? Weird. I would've played it if I saw it, too.

I saw that yesterday too. They really need to require more than 8 ratings before placing a title in my opinion.

Depends on your definition of "A list". If A List is just another word for pins that are high priced, then there is nothing bullshit about it.

If A List is referring to how good the game play of a pin is, well, that isn't BS either, other than to the extent that it is a matter of opinion.

And titles like STTNG , WH20, and TS are highly ranked, yet they are not particularly expensive.

I look at the "ratings" like I look at the "price guides"

Bull.

The ratings are subjective. IMO, there are MANY pinball machines better than Medieval Madness (ducks for cover)

Andromeda has already been pushed down to #2.

I have no interest in adding price guides to the database here, but I do have interest in adding game ratings here.

I've chatted with the admins at IPDB about their rating system and understand the issues with it.

The system I have in mind is in theory more resistant to shall we say, creative pushing, but is also measurably more work to build... so its likely a feature for later in the year.

There is a catch in making a system were you would add weight to the amount of voters of a certain pinballmachine. Because it would mean a rare and obscure pinball would never climb in the top and slowly but surely the most common pinballs would climb the ladder. That is because the most rare pinballmachines would die out.... Not receiving many new voters. Were the common ones will survive because of plenty of spareparts and beause they are sold much more to begin with.

If you would go for a system like that you might as well just look at the total sales when it came out and use that in your equation.

I think a much more logic way and far more simpler way is to use a minimal amount of voters. Just add something like you need at least 15 voters to get in the ranking at all.
