This one is fun. I just got the boards back from Eldorado, and the monitor chassis back from ArcadeCUP.

I hook everything up, and the game coins up and plays, with inverted video.

I'm going to re-check my neck wires again, but I suspect I have a flipped switch somewhere. Any suggestions?

I searched and couldn't find this one on here, but I'm sure someone will know where the thread is.

Fix it yourself

In looking, here is what I did to resolve this:

Instructions from the repair shop were as follows:
"Colored Yoke wires must match yoke tab color code / markings"

So, I dutifully put my head and a flashlight into the cabinet, and checked and matched the wires.

And got an inverted display.

When I was removing the monitor, I took pictures of the original install. In looking at the pictures, the wires were different.

The black wire was on the back, not the front tabs, and the red wire was on the front, not the back tabs.

I put the wires the way they showed in the pictures, and the image is now correct.

The attached photos show how the yoke wires on the Space Invaders (Midway) I am working on should be installed for it to work right.

If you match the color wires to the color marks on the yoke the picture will show up correctly on the monitor but when it is bounced of the mirror it will be inverted. So to corrected it for use in a game with the mirror you have to swap the yoke wires. Red can be swapped with black and the yellow can be swapped with green( I think I've seen gray also). I couldn't remember for sure if you needed to swap them both or just one set but from your previous post it sounds like you only had to swap the red and black.

A word of warning though you can't swap the yoke wires of a Motorola XM 501 if you run it to that bw monitor, it's done differently.

If you're using it with an upright cabinet, inverted video on the monitor is normal, as there's a mirror that un-inverts the image. If using in a cocktail, then yeah, you'd have to do some changing around to get it working. Later arcade games have a toggle on the game board to switch between inverted and normal.
