Introduction of the NEW Mosquito & Big Bertha high voltage VD900 doublers for the G05

I am excited to present my quality homemade VD900 high voltage doublers!
Painless remedy for bad doublers in g05-801 vector monitors! *All components brand new*.
Less steps then cooking a boxed meal for install. :)

[KEN] 4900 flybacks could be this month yet!! I will post when they are in.

[MARK-H] Well sure you could however that will equate to time lolling around and a very sloppy look along with a grimy anode cup.
By the time your done you will have missed out on the microwave popcorn that would be finished at the same time to install Big Bertha or Mosquito.

I like the look and ease of your finished solution, and kudos for taking the time to make these. Sure beats several days of applying silicone and waiting for it to cure

Though I'm curious what material you're using to cast these? Seems to be an issue with degassing from the pictures

Thanks! I will admit the first 2 I made (which are pictured) didn't have the best mix ratio. I was too excited, it was late at night, and I didn't have any measuring cups so I grabbed an old coffee cup and eyeballed the ratio. Also I was mixing spastically which could have added lots of air. I did another mix without and degassing issue.

With my experience casting any two-part resins, mix it very gently to not introduce air. You knew exactly what was wrong :)

Keep up the good work reproducing parts for the masses

UPDATE: First 2 units have been SOLD!! I only made 2 on the first run.
I will have the next batch ready this coming Tuesday. Will do 4 units Tuesday or will build on demand if that doesn't cover! Next batch will have an extra ground post on the bottom to secure the seating of the box better.

Only differing amounts of epoxy potting... the little one has a wire sticking out for the ground pin, while the other has it complete internal.

Thanks... I was just wondering what the difference was... now I wonder why make two sizes? Perhaps the larger is for a more stock look while the smaller is for ease of installation, etc?

I tried both cases to get a feel for the assembly in both sizes... The larger one is certainly easier to work with and faster to complete. I was considering a bleeder option on the larger one that would auto discharge any high voltage at the anode after power down.

To clarify: the absolute only difference between the large and small one is just that!. The size.. Same components, same circuit internally. It's easier to work with the larger case vs. the smaller. The smaller one (Mosquito) is the closest in size to the original vd900 footprint. It is almost spot on. Next batch will have different components which may affect price. I have 3 different builds to try.

Next will be making new safety bleeder boxes to spec for some of the larger screen rasters found on 7600 39" & some u5000's.. While I know the demand for those will be short it will be settling to know they will soon be avail.

MARK-H & HudsonArcade please give me a phone call I would like to hear more about your feelings on what the product is or isn't and why it's too expensive with your reasoning.
920-883-8905. Maybe you're just the type that would complain after an oil change to a serviceman saying to him that the oil only cost you $12 and I just paid $33. If you can't grasp service, locating the parts, assembly, shipping, & transaction fees then so be it. And no "I WOULD CHANGE MY OWN OIL" will not count as a good rebuke. If you don't like me then say it and move on instead of dragging your smears through my threads.

OK, Mark...
[ADMIN PRUNE...]

Sure there's information PUBLICLY available on how to homebrew this fix. Big deal. There's publicly available information on how to build JAMMA adapters too. You don't see a bunch of folks slamming you saying you did nothing to help folks in the community by building something they could do themselves cheaper!

The point here is, keep it on one topic. [...ADMIN PRUNE]

[ADMIN PRUNE...DEFINITELY IN PROGRESS]

There's a difference between homebrewing this potentially dangerous component where the liability is all on you, and selling said component with limited testing, and no guarantees. I have no interest in making 'products' that generate potentially lethal voltages, as I don't want to assume the liability if the product fails and someone is injured. [ADMIN PRUNE...] the potting compound instead of measuring properly, and introduced bubbles when mixing it -- who knows how strong that dielectric is at this point? It's certainly lower than it would be if it were made properly...
