Introduction and my own arcade restoration project.

Hi gang,

I've spent the last few days reading the archives of this forum.
You guys amaze me with the level of skill represented here.

I thought I'd poke my head up and say "hi" -- Usually my addiction centers around microcontrollers, but I purchased an old empty Midway box for $50 last year and quite frankly, I'm hooked. (I can't say I wasn't warned!)

Anyway, this is my first spending any real time behind a quarter sucker, and my own restoration project is centered around using Propeller (microcontroller) game remakes as the brain of my project, but now that I'm hooked I'm ready to get this one done and move forward to some more complex (and perhaps real) restorations.

Here's the link to what I'm working on. Comments welcome.

Anyone else click on the link? He got a Zookeeper cab that was converted to a Jungle king for $50. Making a multi from a Zookeeper, how do the sides look on it? Also that Jungle King control panel that you sent out to have holes made in it looked pretty nice too.

Welcome. If you're anywhere near me, I'd swap you for a different Taito cab so that ZK cab doesn't get painted or otherwise modded. I'm in Southern Indiana.

Welcome Oldbit!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, collecting and restoring arcade games is like hoarding cats, once you've saved one you feel a compulsion to rescue all others that cross your path.

if it's really for Defender then seriously ya need to get the Jrok board instead of a Defender clone.

Hi I read your blog and if you don't have a degaussing coil you can run an electric drill in front of your monitor in a circular motion. I'd try that before swapping monitors.

Wow, that's a pretty nice original JK panel you hacked up

Panel

Actually the picture made the panel look much better than it was...
The top clear-coat had chipped in many areas and the edges you couldn't see had peeled.

I just posted an update on the blog with the finished arcade panel.

Propeller Arcade: Finished {well almost}

Finally finished the Prop-arcade project.
Thanks for the kind words. You guys are really artists, and I'm really just having some fun.

Some finished photos here:

Project blog here:

{Finished.. Well almost, A buddy just dropped off a 20" LCD vga/tv last night for it.}

What I've got left over..

1 Jungle King glass monitor panel.
1 Zoo Keeper Maquee (I've got a PM to someone on this, so he gets first dibs.)
1 metal coin box
1 plastic coin box (fits inside with handle)
1 power supply. (heavy. Toss to metal recyclers?)

What I want..

I need some decent looking arcade buttons and switches.
(The one's I have left are ugly.) I'm going to add three buttons just above
the coin box for some additional controls.

Anyone want to make a swap?
