What level of Internet piracy are you comfortable with?

Whole sites on the Internet are devoted to downloading "stuff" that in most cases is considered illegal.

Do you download songs, ROMs, games, TV shows, or movies without paying for them?

At what point do you consider something as being "stolen"?

What about a dead system like the original Xbox? No longer supported by Microsoft in any way shape or form. No parts are made for it and no new games will ever come out for it. Is it OK to modd them? Is it OK to put in a larger HD and make them useful again?

How about emulators for arcade and home game systems? Is it OK to collect ROMs for them?

Are all the songs on your MP3 player payed for? Have you ever "borrowed" any from a friend?

Do you have any movies that you have downloaded or copied in your collection?

I know I'm less than perfect when it comes to this subject. I'm just curious, at what point do you draw the line?

In my opinion you are a pirate whether you have 1 item or thousands. I have no problem with piracy at all as long as someone isn't making a profit at it. I don't pirate things I can buy. I do test things (games, music, etc.) before I buy. I also think that unless an individual is pure (never posessed pirated material or used/participated in using someone else's pirated material) they have no right to say anything about what I do. I also think that anyone who claims to be pure is full of shit.

Music - rarely, are they still making any? Probably less than half of the stuff on my iphone is legit, even for stuff I own its faster these days to download an album than it is to dig out the CD and rip it.
ROMs - got all the ones I wanted years ago, download a few now and then to help with pcb repairs.
Games - pc is getting on for 7 years old so past it for games, have a PS3 but that's only used as a media centre really, it hasn't seen a game disc in about 6 months.
TV - regularly
Movies - not for years, only watch new stuff on BluRay and can't be bothered to wait for a 30GB download for BR rips.

Draw a line? I don't draw any line, each to their own. Not even sure there is a line, either you do or you don't, if you have a line its a bit like saying you are a vegetarian who sometimes eats chicken.

Mostly '70's and '80's music that I bought first on LP's then again on Cassettes and then again on CD's - the music companies have already had three bites at me for the same thing so they can get stuffed if they think I am going to pay a forth time for stuff I have already paid for!

If that makes me a pirate then so be it - I couldn't give a rats!

I'm all for it if your will to take the repercussions

I am all for it, but is worth getting caught, infecting your computer, or just downloading junk (what I mean buy that is you think your downloading a movie, song, or whatever it is and you end up downloading nothing, virus folder with a autorun in it, etc..) Remember the phrase there's nothing in life for free well that goes along with downloading pirated stuff. If you noticed lately you can't download as much stuff as you where able to a year ago.. its because everybody is cracking down on it. shutting down the domains and some now are taking pirated stuff of there domains, and in some country's they are making the person that put up the like responsible for letting people download pirated stuff. I used to until I infected my computer with a rom game. not I don't really download anything unless I know for a fact where its coming from.

i own most all the music i want. nothing new is worth a red cent.
movies, with netflix instwatch no need for dvd's any more. i used to go to the video store.
rent a movie,if i liked it id rip and burn it. havnt seen the inside of a video store in 5 years..
games, have wii/xbox 360/pc and gamefly. no need to pirate.

I live with piracy everyday,I cant afford to buy software when I know I can find it for free and if you buy it,costs a little fortune.
Plus with piracy you can find things that even if you spend lots of money you cant find in original, like some rare movies
