Hi;
I would like to send a PCB to Australia but am concerned that it will be "lost" during shipping.
I would like, (if you have the time) to take a survey and see what companies everyone uses to do the international shipping, with door to door tracking so nothing gets "lost" and what their experiences were - good/bad etc....
I checked DHL and it seems that they only do 100 packages or more.
Thanks
Jeff

my brother just shipped some golf clubs to japan. USPS will handle it/track it if its express but that was about $70. If your looking to keep ebay protection, you might have to ship it that way. Normally usps is cheaper, but they usually hand off final delivery to local service. Thats how you loose the tracking.

I would try fedex or ups. I have only shipped out of the country with usps and never had a problem.

That is what I am trying to avoid, the "hand off". I need them to provide tracking to the buyers door, that way I will have proof (basically) that the PCB was in fact delivered.
I'll try the FedEx website again and see if I can get anywhere but I was hoping for a recommendation from a previous user.
Thanks
Jeff

USPS express mail international with insurance, it's been very reliable and worked out a lot cheaper than Fedex or UPS when insured. In the past I ran into items not making it through to their destination and cheap shipping just isn't worth it. It's not that end users steal stuff, it's the post offices employees. Real story... had an item disappear for 7 months, then re-appear and actually be delivered with an explanation from the UK post office saying it had been recovered from a haul of stolen mail.

I hate having to pass the expense on to end buyer, but it's really the only way to be sure and not get into a 'did he really send it' or 'did they just steal it' unpleasant situation.

I've had a hell of a lot of packages delivered to me here in Au by USPS priority international. heaps from KLOV members(more than my feedback indicates) ebay and other stores. Price is fair...every package has arrived!!

Thanks guys.....
I guess I will have to get over my hatred of USPS and get a quote from them.
Basically if it is insured, then whatever the case, I should be covered?

International rates have been going up.. or im just shipping to the wrong countries.. UK and Japan are unreal..

I ship everything USPS. In the past 4 years I have never had a single package lost or damaged in shipping.
That being said, I receive packages from ups and fedex that are mangled all the time. UPS seems to be the worst out of the bunch. If it has a fragile sticker on it I think they kick it around even more.
You might want to check usps. I think you can track the packages with the label number but im not positive. Its not as accurate as true tracking but will work as delivery confirmation. This might only apply if you have it insured. Check with them to be sure.
USPS just changed all their pricing so international has went waaaay up in price. However you now get free tracking on all priority and first class packages.

Mail oversea's USPS all the time. The rates have gone up. Only two issues in 10 yrs.
Tracking on Priority is now free.

Holy cow is the UK crazy, IIRC the last shipment to New Zealand was for about $1 less than the UK. When I was the UK last summer, I was shipping stuff back to the US and the prices were nuts. On the way back from the post office there was a news story on the radio about how the UK post office was making record profits, mostly from international shipping. It was kinda ironic.

I just got screwed on an ebay item I sold to an international buyer. I sent it USPS First Class International, and have the Customs number to prove it, but that wasn't enough for ebay when the buyer complained that it did not arrive. An expensive lesson learned--you need to have proof that the buyer RECEIVED the item in order to be covered. Proving that you mailed it isn't worth crap, apparently.
