The interlock switch for the back door of my Asteroids Deluxe is toast. It was damaged at some point and I took it out today to take a look at it and it cannot be repaired - plastic is broken, and metal pieces have fallen out. So I want to either bypass it or find another switch.

Any idea where to get another switch? I see that Arcade Boneyard has them.

I was also thinking bypass. It was two back and two white wires connected to four connectors on the bypass, plus a green ground wire. I am assuming all the bypass does is break the white and black circuits and so I have to simply connect the black wire to the black wire and the white wire to the white wire to bypass. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes. Simply connect the wires to bypass the switch. (but NOT a ground wire that might be connected to the bracket into which the switch is mounted).

In Atari games, all the interlocks and the power switch are all wired in series, so they all have to make to get power. I have a little molex plug I use in Atari power blocks that bypasses all of that shit, for when I'm using one out of a cabinet and just want it to work.

Cool, thanks. Hopefully that's all that's wrong with the game....Famous last words...

Got another switch - put it in. At least the interlock now works but of course the game is still not working...I have another thread on that.

Thanks for the info on the interlock.
