Interior Wall insulation - sound reduction question

I'm looking to insulated existing interior walls to try and dampen the sound between rooms. I live in a modular built home with hollow walls. Sound just goes right through like the walls aren't even there.

I'm thinking about using blown-in cellulose insulation. Basically just cutting a hole at the top of the wall between the studs and blow it right in there with one of those industrial blowers.

Anyone ever do this before? If so did it make a sizable difference?

I'd also welcome any tips or suggestions.

Thanks!

Any type of insulating that you can do will help dampen the noise. Cellulose will work fine but you may also want to look into having a company come out and spray foam the wall cavities. There is a major price difference between the two however.

I looked at the the spray foam option. It is a lot more expensive. Would be nice though.

I still have some time to think about what I want to use since I won't be doing this until Spring.

Thanks for the response.

The only thing that really reduces noise is mass. A concrete wall is the best way. Second best is a false wall before the actualy wall with some space inbetween. I went through this with my router table and if the noise is real loud insulation helps a bit but wont reduce the noise to the levels you're thinking. Unfortunately what you're trying to do is a real PIA.
