saw this one on CL.. Passed the info to a friend who is a B&W collector and he bought it today.

He says is a pre-production sprint 1. Thought I would share..

Very cool. It's a 4-speed. A number of old Atari's had that shifter configuration. I think the bezel and housing is the same as Battlezone's sticks.

Does it work?

its a pretty normal 4 positon shifter.. Your probably sed to hi-lo shifters, but even rush and crusin used a 4 position shifter.

I think its funny seeing a kee game in an atari cab..

If my buddy did not get it, I was going to grab it on GP. I am glad its in a good home..

I don't know if it works. He just sent me a quick email that he got it. He could have bought it without plugging it in so he can go through it before firing it up..

Kee Games was Atari. Nolan Bushnell and Joe Keenan created Kee Games because of how arcade game distribution was handled in the early 70's.

It was Nolan Bushnells way of getting around distributors who wanted exclusivity contracts. The public found out in 1974 and the Kee logo added the disclamer "A wholly owned subsidiary of Atari Inc."

Nice!...notice the track layout is different from the more common Sprint 1....snag a video of it playing and drop it on youtube...you guys scored I would love to have it.

peace, B.

That a Lemans and not a Sprint one. I have owned a Sprint One, the cabinet is not the same as that.

Atari/Kee did the basic Sprint car game over and over again with endless variations, Trak 10, Trak 20, Gran Trak, Formula K, Lemans, Indy 4, Indy 800, Sprint One, Sprint 2, Sprint 4, Sprint 8, Super Sprint, Championship Sprint and Badlands.

Yep that's a Lemans. The control panel has been painted orange, but the surround and marquee are still original. See where it says "lemans" :) they have put a cone button over the original big white start button as well.

This was also the cab used for some Sprint 1's. I had one. - Barry

Thanks for the pic. The Key Games cp doesn't match the OP's machine either. Maybe that one has a sticker on it?

got an update from my buddy..

I did get it working. One of the fuse sockets on the transformer assembly had broken. I fixed that. It's cleaned up pretty nice. I asked about the owner and his wife said he had not worked at Atari.

The cabinet is a standard Lemans cabinet except for the plain white sides and the orange painted control panel. Monitor looks in good shape but needs a couple cap replaced to get rid of the waviness. cheers and thanks for pointing it out for me. I plan on having it ready for Ca Extreme show.
