I finally got around to removing everything in my ms. pac cabinet yesterday in prep for paint removal, body work that will lead to me painting the thing with stencils and all and I noticed the following written inside on the PCB side towards the bottom:

"Sox 2 NY 7"

apparently the yankees or mets won. This seems like it was written prior to when the cabinet was assembled as the angle of the text would be hard to write already assembled...so i wrote a script to crawl baseball-reference.com and look for every score the sox lost to the yankees or mets with a score of 2-7. result:
Yankees - 9/23/1983, 5/31/1991, 9/9/2001
Mets - Never.

I think its fairly possible this was written in 1983..i wouldn't be surprised if this is when this cab was made as the serial number is in the 30k range..

BTW, the only scores i found were for red sox/yankees...not white sox..no record of chicago white sox losing to either NY team 2-7...i would have thought a CHI score would be written..hmm

funny

That is cool...and since Midway's factory where ms pacs were assembled was in Chicago......seems to fit if were talking about White Sox and not Red Socks....looks like some baseball fans working on some cabs...:D Funny though...not cubs fans..but White Sox..

yeah, i just updated the original post...i could only find Red Sox/Yanks with that score...no White Sox loss to yanks or mets with that score..

BTW - of course it wouldn't be the Mets, as we didn't have inter-league play back then. Unless it would've been in the World Series...

Yeah its amazing what you find in those cabs..Inside my Super Pacman cab I noticed one day while repairing the power supply that it actually has how many individual pieces it took to construct the cab written on the one of the sides in pencil...forget the number off hand but likely a lot of the scribbles came when they mocked up the construction on the cabs prior to these going to into production.

or maybe July 30th, 1979 vs the White Sox:

Which may be more likely since Midway was in Chicago, I believe, so they probably got their wood locally...

HA! good find..i started at 1980..i should've gone back a little farther..

So it narrows down to

White Sox losing to Yankees:
7/22/1978
7/30/1979

Or Red Sox losing to Yankees:
7/2/1979
9/23/1983
5/31/1991
9/9/2001

In any case..its cool.

Dammit, I thought you found Rossie O'Donnell in there. Please, someone, post that pic so I can piss my pants again.
