Interesting....does the story increase the value?

In my mind, no. Not just the fact that it was won on Price is Right.

I don't know what those normally go for but it seems pretty high.

Only reason I'd pay more for that over another one of the same cabinet is because it's a clean HUO (home use only) cabinet.

I remember seeing an episode where QUIZ & DRAGONS was a prize.
Oh boy! Can't wait to play THAT piece of schitte.

I agree, it seems like it would make a good story for the person who actually won it but not anyone else, are you sure it's HUO? Looks to have a coin door on the front...???

Home use only (HUO) means that it was never used on a route. It is still a commercial machine though. Home Version games, like the Bally pins, do not have coin doors.

Edit: ummm yeah...what he said. :) I type kinda slow

Oh I see, I remember seeing a while back some pin's that were sold by Sears back in the 70's and 80's that looked pretty close to a real table other than not having a coin door, kinda thought they did that with vids as well..

It's probably worth two grand, ops still buy these new all the time, and they'd be happy to buy one that's only a couple months old, only used in a house for 2 grand.

My thoughts as well, everytime I see one of these on location I'll dump some quarters into it.

Weird, I avoid these like the plague when I see one in the wild... they usually want 50 cents per play and playing Pacs or Galaga on a 25" monitor feels weird to me... granted, I play Galaga on a 19" at home, but my Ms. Pac is a 13"... so playing on a 25" just feels CRAZY.

Most route ops, from what I've seen, have started switching over to the 48/60 in ones... they can get those for a lot cheaper than this unit... granted, legality should be an issue, but... in reality, it's just not.

Personally, if I haven't made that clear, I'd pass... even for $1000, I'd pass. It'd have to be under $500 for me to even be interested and that's just because of the parts in there.

I don't know. It depends on the story I guess and what it's worth to the buyer. I could care less about The Price Is Right.

On the other hand, if someone told me they hung out with Miyamoto, played a game of Donkey Kong with him, had him sign their DK machine and had proof that it happened, then I would think that the value of the game would increase.

VV What he said.

HUO means never used in a commercial environment, though it is still a commercial unit.
Yup.

Ah. I thought the machine was from around 2006.

Hahaha yeah. That would be pretty awesome.

Beyond the fact that it is interesting to some to know a specific machine's history and the fact that the story lets you know the machine is practically brand new, no.

I think I might pay ~ $50-$100 more for it...if it had signatures from Bob Barker / Drew Carey & the Beauties.

I was on vacation last year and went to an arcade that had 4 pac/galagas lined up and all 4 had people on them constantly. Yes, they are still making lots of money so the 2k price tag is not out of line.

The machine IS from around 2006, but actually it's from around 1981, you know? Ms. Pac Man is Ms. Pac Man and if an op wants a new one, this is the one that Namco sells. If you go to a distributor today, they'll have one of these in their showroom on sale for over 3gs.

I would pay that amount if Bob Barker had signed it and personally spayed and neutered animals on top of it. But if I found Drew Carey's dildo in the bottom the deal would be off!!

Around LA, I doubt anyone is going to pay more for something won off a game show.

There are a lot of people who sell off the stuff they won on game shows for cash.

I think a celebrity owned game could be worth something more than a regular game, but it would have to be a certain kind of celebrity and there would have to be concrete proof of ownership. I think some of John Candy's videogames came up for sale a few years ago. Are those worth more than a regular game? In my mind, probably not.
