Nintendo made dozens of these in the 80s including some Snoopy and Disney licensed ones. Supposedly, the dual-screened ones were the inspiration for the Nintendo DS.

Here's a link that lists all of them: http://nintendo.wikia.com/wiki/Game_&_Watch

I used to own Donkey Kong II as a kid but lost it somehow (Yes, there was a D2K before D2K) :)

I have one of those.

when the nintendo ds was launched i dug it out and told the kids, "big deal, I have had a dual screen nintendo hand held game for twenty years" they were not impressed.

Wow,that brings back some memories,i had quite a few of the lcd games back in the day. This was the only one i had with dual screens though.I wonder how my kids would react to it,they weren't impressed at all by the atari 2600.

It's the Nintendo Game and Watch series of course! Surprised you hadn't heard about it even on this forum. Theres a bunch of different games made in this style by Nintendo. You can play many of them on the Game and Watch Gallery series on the Game Boy and the Game and Watch Collection for the DS which is only available to Nintendo Club members(or on ebay).

That's a Nintendo Game & Watch. I collect those (I have that one). There are basically 60 of them, of which I currently have 23. I have mine in a glass display case. I also got a hold of laminated copies of a six page Game & Watch catalog that has boxed and unboxed pictures of all 60 of them. I have them hanging on the wall behind the display case.

By the way, if anybody has the game Rain Shower I will buy it for a reasonable price.

Years ago I bought one of those for $.49 at a thrift and sold it for $150.00. I don't think they command the same prices now though.

The seller doesn't know what it is either, apparently.

But anyhow, Gunpei Yokoi designed this. That's his directional pad. He later incorporated his design into another project: Game Boy.

The reason the Nintendo DS has two screens and a clamshell design is largely because of the success of this Donkey Kong G&W.

A complete boxed DK in great condition could easily go for more than $150 now, but a loose one like this wouldn't go for that high. Some of them go for really high prices, especially boxed. Ones like Mario the Juggler or any of the crystal screen games (SMB, Climber, and Balloon Fight) usually go for quite a bit. The special edition SMB can easily go for $1000.

You should've started them out younger then! My daughter is getting well versed in arcade machines and NES. It kicks ass when a game won't fire up and she runs across the room to me with the game saying "Daddy blow on it! Blow on it!" Every small child should know the skilled art of getting an NES cart to fire up. :D
