Interest check: Atari Football high end restoration

I have an opportunity to pick up one or two 2-player Atari Football cocktail units. If I'm restoring one, I can restore two. Wondering if anyone is interested in a high end restore. This will look as close to NIB as possible (within the limitations of what is reproduced - i.e. glass top currently not reproduced).

This won't be cheap as I have the cost of the game plus the cost of lots of replacement parts. If interested send me a PM.

For those not familiar with some of my work,

I'll start restoring my POS project sometime soon. As my cabinet is missing the base, has some swelling and crumbling, and was home to a rat for a while, I plan on building a replacement cabinet, making a replacement base, and putting it all on locking casters.

I'd be very interested in seeing your restoration in a thread!

I love the game, had a chance to play is at the NW game show this year for the first time in 20 years. I have tried to make a deal several times but shipping to Canada killed it each time. Good luck and I'll be watching your updates, you do amazing work.

I'd like to add some things- I've cut all but the side panels for my project from furniture grade 3/4 pine plywood instead of particle board. The original cabinet has a black leather textured (looks to match what Arcadeshop offers) vinyl on the end panels and inner surfaces of the sides. For durability, I've considered going with vertical grade black laminate, but I think I'll just go with the textured vinyl that Arcadeshop sells. My biggest worry is the inner edges getting messed up with the opening and closing of the control panel. I suppose with sides that aren't swollen that's a non issue.

I'm planning on finding a Wilsonart or Formica match for the sides, as I will have a lot more choices with laminate than I would with woodgrain vinyl. Since the ToG repro art will go on it, I want the sides super durable.

An expensive part of restoring one of these seems to be the trackballs, if you buy rollers which I'll have to, but especially if you buy new balls. May try polishing mine out, but they're rough.

I'll be scanning my model/serial and amps/volts decals for the guy who is doing repro aluminum decals.

Last, mine is missing the base. I'm thinking putting locking casters on it will be a must.

You do some serious sweet work, no doubt.

I have the game, not great cosmetically, but functions 100%. And truthfully, when it does get played, there is sweating, cursing, and occasionally beer spillage, along with pinched fingers. So I personally do not need a prime restore on this machine, just need it to keep it working.

:D
