Installing LCD into Golden Tee fore cabinet - A few questions - Upgrading to 2016

I recently purchased a Golden Tee 2016 kit that can do 1080P resolution and I would like to utilize it in my older fore series cabinet. I am going to replace the 27" D9200 in my cabinet with a similar sized LED/LCD monitor which seems to be somewhat common. What have others used as a suitable replacement monitor? It seems like a computer monitor would be needed since most tv's don't come in 27-29". I would like the monitor to turn on when the game is turned on without having to press the power button. Is there an easy way to do this or do I need to short the power switch closed on the PCB? What is a good solution for the bezel? Twisted Quarter has 26" plastic bezels but I am looking for a bit larger screen. Thanks.

I can't offer help, but I am interested in how this turns out. Where did you get the 2016 kit from? Might need to look into upgrading mine.

Most of the monitors turn on if there is a signal.

O and dont throw away the old crt, im sure there is a klov'er who wants it (badly)

I sold the CRT already. The monitors will turn on if they are in standby but not completely powered off. I am going to pick one up this evening and should have time to mess with it on wednesday. Still would like to hear if others have gone through this.

Most Tvs will NOT power on automatically after being unplugged.
Most monitors WILL power back on.
I guess you just have to try and see if you get lucky.

I've used 27" computer LCD monitors with CGA/ EGA to VGA converters in Golden Tee machines.
I also bought a ton of 26" LCD CCTV monitors that had VGA inputs and they auto powered on.

i am going to get a computer monitor...hopefully mine auto powers on. if not i should be able to easily modify it to do so. i am going to be using hdmi as the video source. what did you do about a bezel?

If you eliminate the gap from glass to monitor, a cut sheet of poster board works perfect.
Had to go to Hobby Lobby as it required a bigger piece than Walmart had.

Measure twice, cut once. I hate cutting poster board, but I'm getting pretty good at it now that I've done a bunch.

I didn't do a LCD, but did go from a 25" to 27" tube in my GT2005. I made a bezel out of black foam board. Sounds cheesy, but it's pretty much invisible behind the glass.

Not mine, but here is an Acer 27" computer monitor with HDMI.
Auto powered on.
Poster board made it clean up nice.

Have you considered cutting yours down to a pedestal cabinet?....I actually cut mine down last week with a buddy..it took us prob 20 min (most of that was moving wires and figuring out our angle by eyeballing it) and i love it...wall mounted TV ( i do have to use the remote to turn it on though, because i refuse to leave it on standby)

As for using LCD screen inside you cab, I do know the upper 13" monitors on GT live cabs were plugged into the molex connector on the back left of your nighthawk..where the power for the i/0 board goes for power...I think off top of my head it was the top left molex connector with 6 slots? I can prob get you the pinout if thats even a option to splice in with your new LCD if nothing else works?

I've got the power all figured out. Thanks though. Just need to mount the screen and make a bezel.

I've seen a similar solution for virtual pinball cabinets where the tv screen wouldn't automatically turn on - their solution was hooking up 2 wires to the power switch on the tv, usually required taking part of the cabinet case apart. You could simply use a momentary switch but the automatic method is to use a board similar to this http://www.ebay.com/itm/1x-Delay-Ti...107529?hash=item3f582a4f89:g:b4AAAOSwnH1WXSst that might not be the exact board but basically a delay relay timer.
Power this board off your game board power supply and the relay momentarily connecting the two wires. When you power on the game there would be a delay and then the tv would turn on.

Thanks for this

Would it be possible to get some detailed pics of how you mounted it and the bezel.

is that power putt? how fun is that game? i considering getting it, just prices for it are pretty high up there like golden tee.

yes its power putt. its a lot of fun. heres how i mounted it. not pretty but it works and is straight. the bezel is just a piece of black poster board i picked up from a local crafts store.
