Hi there quick question. I have a basically stock TMNT arcade that I am buying a Unico 26 into. I want to make sure I purchase everything I need to do the conversion. Amazon is recommending the two items in the photo I've attached. Do I need both for a Jamma TMNT? Or do I only need one. Is there anything else you would recommend I buy before starting the conversion? Thanks!

No.

Don't be lazy. There are tons of 25" k7000 monitors out there. Get a replacement if needed and keep the cabinet in original condition.

Does the Unico have VGA in? If so, you should only need the Mcbazel interface. It will take the standard res RGBS and convert it to VGA. If you need HDMI then you'd need another converter. Hopefully you can just do VGA into the monitor.

Be sure to watch this video to get some tips on settings including the "Clamp" settings which if not set right will result in a really terrible image.

Appreciate it! Thank you.

You will need to figure out a mounting, as @mecha mentioned, TMNT has a shelf mount frame on the CRT, not a drop-in style. You may need to see if you can remove the tube from the existing frame and mount the Unico to that or something.

What others were pointing out is that a 25" tube that will work with a K7000 chassis is fairly easy to scrounge for $25-50. A reconditioned chassis for such a tube can be had from members here for around $175-250. So if you have an OK K7000 chassis and a tired tube, swapping the tube is pretty easy, and if you have a good tube and a finicky chassis, replacing the chassis isn't too expensive. But you know what will work best for your situation, so if you're doing the LCD, best of luck with it.

At least it's the right size and aspect ratio. There is a 27" wide-screen LCD in my TMNT right now, until I get around to putting in my waiting 25" CRT.

ts been capped, repaired and restored three times. Time for a new monitor. Th
Respectfully, if it was done right then it should work for years without issue. We have a lot of experts on K7000 here and if you stay curious and friendly, I bet a local member might even drop by to check your tubes, etc.

This is a preservation forum, asking about how to convert to LCD is like going into a Mustang forum and asking about Chevy 350 swaps.

But then again, it's your property so you do you.

As others have mentioned the Unico model should drop in without a converter. The mounting is the issue as you will have to fabricate something to make it work.

As far as that will last the long term? I can tell you the Unico monitor is a new company with a first-generation product. Who knows how long it will last or if there will be more when it dies. I can tell you that there's thousands of K7000s in the wild that have been running full time for decades.

I found the perfect K7000 to do a service demonstration video on. it finally may happen. I just have to conjure up the best camera setup. I don't know what the other people are using, like cameras on booms over their heads or what. @zenomorp won't tell me what he has. lol

I understand what you are saying but this is used in a commercial setting with a monitor that has all-ready been served and repaired multiple times. The game is on 11 hours a day 7 days a week. I'm tired of repairing everything. Too busy. The monitor has slowly got darker and darker. It's really bad now.

what's your definition of it "slowly got darker and darker"? the Screen brightness got dark? that would suggest the flyback is failing. do you have pictures of what it looks like now?

As others have stated, CRT is best, but if you are installing a new Unico monitor with the latest hardware, it should work with a regular CGA signal without either of those boards.

The original Unico hardware was substandard and people found that they needed those boards to correct for the shortcomings. Now that they have fixed the issues, you shouldn't need the extra hardware. And the new version actually has the components of the smaller board built right into it.

More info (skip to end if you get bored):

If you have the new version of the Unico monitor, you won't need another converter. The pin input connector is the Japanese standard. Just have to make a connector so you can wire your video from the jamma straight to that.

I have a Mortal Kombat 3 in an arcade and was sick of the CRT dying. So I know what you mean.
