i got a switching power supply to use till i can fix/replace my pp7b, it has come with no instructions so i just want to confirm how to wire up...

i plan to tap the 0/120v terminals BEFORE the iso transformer. is that the best way?

there are 3 inputs on my switcher, ac/n and ac/l which i assume are live and neutral. the third terminal is just a symbol, i know it is ground, my question is whever i should connect the green DK grounding wire to this terminal?

thanks!

also while my pp7b was working i noticed the game seemed to run fine using just the 10p line and the ribbon cable, which means the game was only getting 5/-5, so what does dk use the 12v for? can i do without it? i am using a new monitor and mikes inverterboard which are powered seperately if thats anything to do with it...

Yes, that should go to the new PS terminal. They are connected to the AC ground pin on the wall plug.

As for the other question, I have to leave that up to more knowledgeable people.

FYI, Donkey Kong PCBs sometimes act a little flakey with non-OEM power supplies. You never know until you try them.

cheers guys...

so i hooked it up and set the 5v to 5.08v which is what my original ps outputted but the -5 is only -4.6x

when i adjust it to give -5v the 5v reads 5.44v...

what is the best way to balance it? is there a max safe v for the 5v line? i have not plugged it into my board yet...

cheers

A switcher isn't going to regulate properly until it has a load.....IE: plugged into your board.

have hooked it up its running at 5.21/-4.78/13.6 and seems stable enough, although i cant get a game going as jumpman wont climb ladders...
