Ok, I have heard scandalous rumors that it is possible to install a color monitor in an SI Trimline. Todd from TNT mentioned something about hijacking a harness and a color board from an SI cocktail.

Does anyone else have any info on this or has anyone here made the switch? My monitor is ok, but I have a brand spanking 13 inch monitor with no burn that would look rather smashing in my pint sized wonder.

I was considering the same thing. was going to take a 13"er and remove it from the frame and install it into the SI as if it was supposed to bethere from the factory. I never got around to it and don't have the energy for it now. I am interested to know if anyone else has done it and how they did it too.

I'm on my phone right now, so I can't access my bookmarks, but do a google search for "brentradio" and "space invaders". He has a bunch of SI documents there for both the Midway and Taito models, including how to use a color monitor. Not sure if the instructions are specific to one model or both.

If you don't find it, PM me and I'll send you the link when I get home.

Oh hey, thanks! Here is the link for those who are curious. I am just not sure if it is compatible with Taito boards. I have a feeling it is not and it is for the Midway SI's.

What about just sending the signal to red and the sync to sync (with ground of course) and seeing if it works? If so, tie the signal to blue and green to get white...

I always dreamed of using a color TV screen in a BW Vector Game.

One day this info may come in handy. Good to see the RBG is just tied together successfully. I heard you had to use resistors, in a star formation, with the BW feed coming from the centre of the star

Cool

This isn't a vector game...

I think Todd is actually modifying the existing boards and harness with parts from a cocktail so he doesn't have to use the overlays. It will be a color game and not black and white with overlays.

I mean in reality the overlays used on the Trimlines were spectacular, but it would still be interesting to see it in true color. I am sure Todd will post his finish project. I could have sworn there was previous discussion on the subject.

Okay, this is something I have been wondering about...

Your overlay has like 7 layers of colors. The donor cab that I had obtained for my restore also had 7 layers. My cab has a 3 layer overlay. Also, mine is like a celophane sheet, yours and my donor cab is like a form fitting cover.

Did they come in two versions??? Is one of them a replacement???
