I finally got around to installing my new (repro) control panel and cpo on my Assault today. I've had these for several months now, just haven't had the time or motivation to do anything with them. The panels were produced by Troy (Takeman), and the cpos were screened using the original screens by QuarterArcade. Both of these are of the highest quality. The only bad thing is now the rest of my Assault cab looks crappy, lol. As you can see, my original panel and cpo were trashed.

looks awesome. is there an extra cone button on there? or is it like that normally? (I wouldn't know I don't have an assault)

Ahh, good eye! You are correct, there is an extra button on the right to select 2 players in Assault Plus. I have Matt Osborn's multi-Assault kit installed, so that it plays Assault as well as Assault Plus (and saves scores for both as well).

nice!

I haven't forgotten about trading you the paperboy for that bad boy. :)

Everytime my wife likes a game I trade it though (not sure why) and she loves paperboy

Nice job Greg, looks great! Maybe this is the motivation I needed to get off my duff and get my Assault running right. No sound, monitor color is out of adjustment, joysticks need to be taken apart and diagnosed.....

I was wondering if you remembered...;)

I'm in no hurry to trade as this is my son's favorite game. But still, having a Paperboy would be sweet.

I already want to replace the t-molding and repair some bad areas on the Assault cab, so in a month or so it should be looking really nice. If you wait long enough, I'm sure I'll buy the repro sideart that TOG is supposed to eventually run.:)

yeah I guess I'll wait until you have a $1000 assault, lol.
unfortunately I won't be doing anything cosmetically to this paperboy. I did recap themonitor and will be doing functional upgrades to it, but the cab is a little rough and will remain that way under my watch.

Thanks John. Now get to work on yours! ;)

Monitor issue is easy. Not sure about the sound - didn't it work when you picked up the cab? Remember to check the simple things first, like making sure the wires are attached to the speaker, and also to the volume pot inside the coin door. Joysticks are another matter. Mylstar carries all the parts you will need to rebuild them, but it won't be cheap.

DP - how is your repro Assault cpo holding up? Does the texture look and feel like the original cpo (smooth, hard rubbery)? Or does it have more of the textured, grainy feel of most repro cpo's?
