It a button won't fit in any of the keyholes. Is there any way to make a drill less free play button?

i usually just remove the coin chute from the inside and get a small piece of 1/4" plywood. paint it black with a sharpie and screw it on in place of the chute door. not original but also not invasive or damaging to the game.

What we do for rentals is to run a button with a wire out the coin chute. Just run your wires inside the coin slot, and tie it into the coin switch. Looks like garbage, but totally non-violating to the game.

To make it look really classy, we (when I worked for an op and he would donate games for free play) used to cut out a piece of cardboard about the size of the coin chute opening, mount the switch in the center of it and then use black electrical or duct tape. Sweet!

I played around with magnetic reed switch's to register coin drops. Tested a few and it worked good. Tried a few different setups before finding something reliable. Basically I found that it needs to be mounted somewhere away from metal as that keeps the magnetic field from reaching the switch. What ended up working was mounting it on the wood on the front or side. I found some reed switches with mounting tabs and used a rare earth magnet to trigger it. Other magnets just werent strong enough to work reliably through the 3/4" wood.
The rare earth magnet can be mounted in a keychain dongle.

I found a way to do this, seeing as how coin return isn't used much and if it is, its ususally not player 2's thats used so Im going to put a switch so the coin return will hit the switch but still allow the return to function.

therea alot of methods out there dude...

-get a smaller push button switch to stick in the lock opening(may need to use washers as spacers).

-make a plate and use small switch mounted in the coin return hole

- get some of those "coinups" things that a fellow klover made recently

- **my favorite**relocate the coin switch so as when you press the coin return button it moves the finger on the coin switch therefore "coining it up"

- bob roberts way(also effing sweet)http://www.therealbobroberts.net/freeplay.html

On my PC-10 and Vs. cabs I hotglued a switch behind the coin return button and wired it to the coin wiring. Just a matter of hitting the left coin return quickly to "coin up". And the hotglue comes right off if I ever want to remove the "mod".

Jumping the coin switch wire to the 2Player start button is very nice.
You can do it at the PCB side of the harness to make it real clean and undetectable.
