I got a pretty beat up strange science. I don't think insert covers have been made for it...any suggestions on how to re 'paint' the inserts that are worn? Sharpies won't hold up under waxing and regular wipe downs...paint pens or something? Thnks for any advice

The last Strange Science playfield that we restored we just hand painted the inserts. I am not a big fan of insert decals or stickers.

I'm getting ready to mess with this myself. I'm not sure what to do either. In the past I've done the sharpy thing but I may try cutting circles out of painters tape and painting around the template.

The thing I think to do is find/make some kind of circular punch that fits common insert sizes. One for the inner and one for the outer, and then you can punch out tape to mask off the area.

I do believe however, that if you apply the inserts into a heavy coat of fresh clear (positioning them with a tweezer) they would be great. I have not tried this so its just an idea!

They dont have inserts for strange science thats why I was asking.

How do you hand paint inserts? Car detail/touch up paint sticks or something?

FWIW, I dont think anyone 'likes' insert stickers...They are just a necessary evil sometimes.

I have done something similar. I made replacement art with Corel Draw (for another game). Then I printed it on Waterslide decals and covered it with Mylar. You honestly couldn't tell when it was done.

This is a bad idea. I have tried this and I do not recommend doing it.
