I want to get a slot machine to go with my collection, tempest, firepower 2, black knight and pacman.
Is there anything I should look for as these are all private party, I like the IGT2000 series.
Thank You
Cheers,
Chuck

The absolute first thing you need to do is check you state laws regarding slot machine ownership/posession. Example: here in Washington state you can legally own a slot machine as long as it's 25 years old or older (classified as an antique). It cannot be placed in a business and used as a gambling device.

im in calif, but I only want it for home use and entertainment. I have seen some with and without real money, but would I be ok if it was not modified for tokens just for home use?
thank you!

California is a "25 year" state. The slot machine must be an antique one that's 25 years or older to be legal. If the slot is newer than 25 years then it is illegal & is a felony to possess one.

You want to visit L.A. Slots:

Very few states enforce these laws (I know NJ does enforce them), MA has the "30yr" law, but there are many MA slot owners, in CT their ownership is illegal no matter what the age, but yet people own them. Play it smart, if your picking the thing up in an open bed truck, wrap it in a tarp etc. As long as your not running an illegal casino in your home, the likelihood of the breech team storming through your door for your slot machine is very slim.. Keep an eye on your local craigslist, I just checked the LA one and saw many slots...

How much are they asking? I just sold two IGT S+ slots, got $450 for one and $300 for a sitdown version (slant top). The s2000 is the newer version of the S+

FYi.

FYI, some have the attitude of LEO have beter things to do, but
as part of the violation is instant taking by the LEO as well..
search for one 25 years or older.
they have more charm anyhow.
I had over 30 machines in my garage back when, In orange county.
But I was also Licensed with the Federal DOJ as well.

its not worth the risk, also private owners who decide to ignore the law
make it a harder battle when the issues come up for review or changing laws.

How do "private owners who ignore the law" have anything to do with anything, since no one knows about them?

Well, I don't know how it is in CA, but by looking at CL the point seems null... (*Edited* As not to further fuel the pissing contest) Once again, unless your operating your slot in a public/private establishment in which the general public (Other than family and friends) has access and operates your slot under the assumption that its a legal gambling device..... You don't have anything to worry about. There are certain laws on the books which are archaic and little known...i.e. Pinball still being illegal in certain areas (Retro Arcade) http://www.gamepolitics.com/2010/08/09/town-where-pinball-illegal

Pick the dam thing up, put it in your home, forget about it.... Don't put up flyers telling everyone you own it= Your all set.....

ok I just went over there again. it doesnot take color bills only old ones, theres a plastic thing that prevents the coins from dropping inside you have to push it over then they fall inside. but it does have a hopper that works.
also there is a orange light on the top candle allways lit is that normal? **** if its just a power light I will be ok ***
the sound is very low on it. is there a way to turn it up?
I did notice the back panel is un glued and the front gold crome is wearing off by the buttons.
I really like this one and I got the price to 500.
is this a good deal?
I am waiting for the orange light answer b4 going to get it.
thanks everyone !!
cheers

That is news to me... Sounds custom, should just be a nut on the top that holds the candle together...

Well he knows before purchase.

Well the point of no one knows. Is no excuse, and this thread proves it,
was pointed out to him, and if someone does not know a law its ok for them to break it?
you say your LE. or a "member" of LE, If I ever have a run in hopefully, they will have the same attiude like you and just "let it slide" or just look the other way.

My point is done, My replies in this thread are done.
Not knowing law is no excuse.
best of luck to all. if this question shows on my voy forum as a question will be removed.

Best of luck to all. and I will enjoy my path within the lines of the law.

Bowing out of thread. good luck !

I am so done with this topic as well, never should have entered into it... That said, I see no mention of "if someone does not know a law its ok for them to break it?", I never mentioned that ignorance of a law is an excuse?? If this is because I mentioned "Little known", I meant that most LE does not know the law exists, hence it is seldom, if ever enforced.. Must be nice to have owned "over 30 machines", older than 25yrs in age, if you still have one kicking around, sell it to this member, then we can delete this whole thread....
