Info overload! Need a programmer for 27256's. Sheesh!

I tried searching the boards, but my head exploded, Scanners-style and I'm trying to pick up my skull fragments....

Okay, let me cut this down for you:

Chip: 27256 EPROM mainly. I know I need this for my rollergames. I'm dealing with Williams System 9 - 11C currently, but planning on having access to WPC again. Also have access to Data East System 2 (Time Machine).

Was trying to find specific chip info on Time Machine, but Data East schematics scans from IPDB are kind of s----y.... the game and sound ROM sockets are labeled, near as I can tell..

My computers are both Win 7 64-bit. Highly doubt there is a serial OR parallel port on either, so obviously looking for something that programs over USB. I don't give two poops if I have to use a wall wart for additional power. I do have Professional so I can use XP mode or whatever if I *have* to.

No ISA cards...I don't have room to store a turd computer and all the junk with it, just for a programmer, lol.

GQ-4X "Lite" pack. You won't need the wall wart. It's USB.
Don't forget, you'll also need a UV eraser, unless you want to alway buy pre-erased EPROMs (or used flash EPROMs).

Alright, cool guys. Thank you.

Guess this company has turned around a bit, I remember hearing about their stuff being kinda crappy in the past, but I looked it over and like the features. Putting it on the "to buy" list.

The willem GQ-4X is leaps and bounds better than any of their older programmers. You cant beat it for the price. I bought mine when they first came out with it. They used to include the power adapter for the same price but now you have to buy it separate.

No but I have seen a couple cheap logic and linear testers. They are also China made, I have no experience with them but they might be worth a try. Do a search on ebay and you should find them.
I would really like to find a tester for the older rams. These seem to be really hard to find other than really expensive units.

Hey Frax, if you dont have a programmer and need this IC I've got lots of them and can burn it for you tomorrow.

Love the old Needham EMP10 programmer. Absolute wonderment of a machine. Wish it was still supported, though. ODs with hooks...

I still love my PB10, but its the older ISA slot version and its becoming a hassle to use because its a PITA to have a host board that is old enough to still have ISA slots but new enough to have USB support. The old p60 host machine I used it with died and I was in the process of setting up something newer but couldn't get TinyXp to see the ISA slots.

I shelved the project when I was given 2 of these:

I love mine also and have a dedicated computer for it, got the computer at the dump but had to dig dug it out of there.

The Programmer I bought on e-pay and it was about $35 shipped.
