Not sure if this should be in general discussion or help, lets try here first.
So heres this cheap cocktail I bought for another multicade project. It was advertised as a Pac-Man in a generic cab, seller dosent know if the PCB is original or not. I need the cabinet and could use an original board, so I figure I'm guaranteed at least 1 out of 2 and would consider an original PCB with bootleg roms would be a nice bonus (if that were the case).
Well I open up the cabinet and discover a Bootleg Pac-3 PCB. Damn. I look it up on Lawnmowerman's site (http://lawnmowerman.rotheblog.com/#bootlegPac3), so sweet, I know the pinout at least. Theres 36 pins on the PCB and a short harness that links it to a 44 pin edge connector and finger board. Could this contraption make it work with a standard boardset or vice versa? I havent traced the wires yet to find out.
Then I power it on. I knew going in it was going to be different but take a look at the screen shots. Not only is the maze different, but the characters are also changed. Instead of Pac-Man being chased by ghosts, your a pirate head being chased by skulls. Point values are different too (very similar to New Puc X), pellets are worth 20 pts., power pellets are worth 80 pts., and bonuses start at 500. The main title says "BUCCO" and changes to "BUCCANEER" when coined up.
I google'd it and found nothing, so I have a few questions I'm hoping to find answers for...
1. Whats the actual name for this game?
2. Anyone know the dip switch settings? I have figured out sw. 1 is free play but thats as far as I got so far.
3. Is it worth anything, and does anyone want it? I'd be willing to trade for or towards a multicade PCB, Jamma Harness and/or Switching PS, or would also sell it if I find a value on it.
I should also mention the sound works, but is jittery, and some sounds are louder than others. Slightest turn of the volume pot makes the sound distorted, not sure if its a bad pot or something else. I may try a different speaker but I doubt thats the problem.
Anyone care to shed some light on this?
